Ryan Doubles Through Thorne, Kroon Statistical Expertise

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

John Ryan shoved all in from early position with 72,500 left. The action fell to Shane Thorne who called with pocket kings {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Ryan had {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} and needed some help.

"Eighty percent of the time the ace of clubs comes on the flop in this spot," said Mark Kroon, attempting to lift Ryan's spirits.

Ryan's spirits were indeed lifted when the flop came {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. The turn and river finished the board {a-Spades}{6-Spades} and Ryan doubled up.

"I've never read that in any book," said Gerald Heckathorn in response to Kroon's comment.

"It's math," said Kroon.

First Break of Day 2

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The knockouts were fast and almost 30 players were eliminated in the first 3 levels of play today.

The remaining 40 players are on a ten-minute break.

Level: 18

Blinds: 3,000/6,000

Ante: 1,000

Kroon Crooning

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The board read {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Mark Kroon min-raised his opponent after a 15,000 bet.

"This is the one I leave on," said Kroon.

His opponent wavered, unsure where he stood. He eventually folded saying that his pair was too low.

"I win, wooooo!" said Kroon as he took down the pot.

Eddie Blumenthal Busts Leroy Dubray, Now on the Bubble

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Marius Toderici opened the action with a raise to 18,000 and Eddie Blumenthal reraised to 36,000. Leroy Dubray then shoved all in for 76,000.

Toderici was in the tank for a little, deciding whether or not to fold what he later said was {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. He folded and Blumenthal called with {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Dubray showed {a-Spades}{q-Spades} and was at risk and behind.

The board hit Dubray early with the {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop, but it wasn't enough as it ran out {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Dubray was eliminated.

Blumenthal scored a big hand earlier when he ran out four queens against Greg Seif, who had aces full of queens. Seif said the pot cost him 150,000.
