Jacks Hold for Pluta

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

A player in middle position raised 5,000 and Dan Pluta moved all in for his last 17,500 from the cutoff. The original raiser called and they turned their cards over.

Dan Pluta: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The {5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} flop was a good one for Pluta, but the {3-Hearts} turn card left him needing to fade a heart or a queen heading to a river card.

The {4-Spades} river was a brick and Pluta managed to double up and survive late on Day 1A.

Mudduluru Coolers Johnson

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Sai Mudduluru
Sai Mudduluru

Sai Mudduluru raised to 6,000 from middle position, action folded to Aaron Johnson in the small blind and he moved all in for 60,000. Mudduluru snap called and showed Johnson the bad news.

Aaron Johnson: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Sai Mudduluru: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}

The {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop was not help for Johnson and he was drawing dead on the {j-Clubs} turn. The meaningless {q-Hearts} river completed the board and Johnson was eliminated from play on Day 1A.

What a Treat: Matakis Sends One to the Rail

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Ian Matakis
Ian Matakis

Minnesota's Ian Matakis raised to 5,500 from early position and two players called before Scott Treat called off his last 2,000 from the button. The lady on the button then three-bet all in for 15,000 and Matakis isolated with a four-bet to 25,000. That drove off the two limpers and all three hands were turned up.

Ian Matakis: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Scott Treat: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Button: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The {k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop gave both Matakis and the lady on the button a set, while Treat picked up the flush draw. The {4-Diamonds} turn was of no consequence but the {3-Clubs} river was.

Treat made the flush to win the side pot while Matakis made some money by claiming the side.

Singletary Wins the Flip

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Al Singletary
Al Singletary

Al Singletary was in middle position and opened big by making it 21,000 to go. The player on the button responded by reraising all in for 60,000, both blinds folded, and Singletary called.

Al Singletary: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

It was a flip and Singletary, who had most of his stack at risk, was just looking to hold. He did one better than that though as the {9-Spades}{j-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop gave him a set. The {5-Diamonds} turn locked it up for the former MSPT FireKeepers final tablist and he was pushed the pot after the meaningless {k-Spades} was run out on the river.

Trips Aren't Good Enough, Uminn Binks River

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Mark Uminn
Mark Uminn

A player raised to 6,000 under the gun, Mark Uminn called from the hijack and the small blind came along aswell.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and the preflop raiser put out a continuation bet of 12,000. Uminn called and the other player folded.

The board paired the ace on the {a-Hearts} turn card and Uminn's last 25,500 ended up in the middle and he was behind.

Mark Uminn: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Opponent: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}

Uminn was able to find one of his few outs on the {9-Hearts} river to stay alive.

Bullen Busts One

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Randy Bullen
Randy Bullen

Randy Bullen raised to 6,000 and then called when an opponent three-bet all in for 15,500.

Bullen: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Bullen was behind but picked up a gutshot on the {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{k-Spades} flop. The {10-Spades} turn brough in the straight to secure the hand for Bullen, and his opponent hit the rail after the meaningless {3-Diamonds} was run out on the river.

Wen Knocks One Out

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Xiaofei Wen
Xiaofei Wen

A player in middle position raised 27,500 leaving himself 1,000 behind. Xiaofei Wen was in the small blind and called.

Wen bet blind before the flop of {q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Hearts} was dealt. His opponent tossed in his last 1,000 and they both turned their cards over.

Xiaofei Wen: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}

The {k-Spades} turn card improved Wen to two pair but was a bad card for him as it gave his opponent eight additional outs.

The {3-Diamonds} river completed the board and Wen added the pot to his stack.
