Kantamaneni Dominates Opponent

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

A player under the gun opened to 1,200 and got one caller before a player in middle position moved all in for 13,700. [Removed:137] was on the button and moved in over the top for 15,500. The first two players in the pot folded and the two remaining flipped their cards over.

[Removed:137]: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Opponent: {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The {9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop was a good one for Kantamaneni but the {7-Hearts} turn left him needing to fade a gut shot as well. The {5-Hearts} river was a brick and Kantamaneni sent his opponent to the rail.

Shaba Has Opponent Drawing Nearly Dead

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Danny Shaba
Danny Shaba

A player in middle position raised to 1,500 after one had already limped in. The small blind, Danny Shaba in the big blind and the limper all called.

The flop of {5-Hearts}{a-Spades}{j-Hearts} was checked to the preflop aggressor who fired 5,700. The small bind folded and Shaba raised to 20,000. The player in early position got out of the way and original raiser called off his last 12,900.

Danny Shaba: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Opponent: {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Shaba had his opponent almost dead until the {9-Diamonds} turn card left him needing to fade a double gut shot. The {q-Hearts} river completed both players flush draws and Shaba now sits with 70,000 chips.

Carey Hits Six Figures

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Irene Carey raised to 1,300 under the gun and a player in middle position called. Steve Kettler came along from the small blind, the player in the big did too, and it was four-way action to the {8-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop. Kettler led for 2,500, the big blind folded, and Carey called.

The other player folded and it was heads-up to the {2-} turn. Kettler bet 5,000, Carey called, and the {6-Hearts} completed the board on the river.

Kettler bet again, this time 7,000, and Carey called with {9-}{9-}. It was good as Ketterl missed his gutshot with {j-}{10-}.

Action Killing River Saves Smith's Opponent

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Doug Smith
Doug Smith

Doug Smith raised 2,000 under the gun and got called by both players in the blinds.

The blinds checked it over to Smith on the {9-Spades}{q-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop and he bet 2,100. Both of his opponents called and they went to a turn card.

Action checked to Smith again on the {a-Clubs} turn and he fired 8,000. The small blind folded and the big blind called.

The {j-Clubs} river completed the backdoor flush and both players checked.

Doug Smith: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Smith's opponent showed top and bottom pair, but that was not good enough to beat his top set.

Stammen Trips Up Opponent to Double

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Keven Stammen
Keven Stammen

The under-the-gun player raised to 2,100 and WPT champ Keven Stammen, younger brother of 2018 MSPT Michigan State Poker Champ Matt Stammen, called from middle position. The player on the button then three-bet to 6,700, both blinds folded, and the original raiser called. Stammen opted to call as well and it was three-way action to the {3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop.

Two checks saw the player on the button continue for 10,500, the UTG player folded, and Stammen paused for a few beats before making the call, which left him 14,900 back.

After the dealer burned and turned the {2-Diamonds}, Stammen checked and the button moved all in. Stammen called off and the hands were turned up.

Keven Stammen: {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Button: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Stammen had flopped trip fours to pull ahead of the kings and he shipped the double after the safe {8-Hearts} completed the board on the river.
