Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Nick Pupillo in Day 1a action
Nick Pupillo in Day 1a action

Nick Pupillo was in the hijack and three-bet to 2,000 over an early-position open to 500. Brian Wilson was next to act in the cutoff and cold four-bet to 5,200. The original opener folded and action was back on Pupillo, who thought for about 30 seconds before four-betting all in. Wilson quickly called.

Brian Wilson: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Nick Pupillo: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Clubs} to give Pupillo the two outer he needed to hit a set and improve beyond Wilson's pair of kings. Stacks were counted and Pupillo's totaled 19,500. WIlson's 18,800 was added up afterward, leaving him with no chips left to play as the pot was shipped to Pupillo, who now finds himself just shy of two starting stacks around an hour into the day.

Fisher Leads the Turn

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Todd Sladek opened to 300 from under the gun and action folded around to the small blind, who called. Brian Fisher was in the big blind and defended to take postflop action three ways.

The flop came {q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and action checked to Sladek, who made a continuation-bet of 500. The small blind folded and Fisher called.

The river was {6-Hearts} and Fisher led out, betting, 1,500. Slader thought for a couple of seconds and then sent his cards to the muck.

Mike Shin
Mike Shin

The MSPT Season 10 Player of the Year Race is in its home stretch and right now Mike Shin holds a healthy lead over both Adam Friedman and Matt Kirby.

At the end of the calendar year, the top-ranked player will receive POY recognition and a $10,000 Main Event buy-in for 2020.

With just a few stops remaining, Shin holds a big lead in the Player of the Year race. His 5,400 points are well ahead of Friedman, who is his next closest competition with 3,500 points.

Shin has amassed 10 MSPT cashes in 2019 which includes winning the MSPT Majestic Star back in January for $68,593 and finishing third in the MSPT Venetian over the summer for $334,000. That was the second-largest score of his career behind the $427,930 he received for finishing 12th in the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Davis Wins at Showdown

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Travis Lauson opened to 400 from under the gun and received calls from a player in early position, Scott Davis in the hijack, and the player in the cutoff. George Pappas was on the button and next to act, and he three-bet to 1,800. Only Davis called.

The flop dropped {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Davis checked. Pappas made a continuation-bet of 2,100 and Davis called. Action then checked through the turn {8-Clubs} and river {4-Spades} to take the hand to showdown.

Pappas announced ace-king, tabling {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} upon checking back. Davis showed {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, missing his nut flush draw but pairing his eight on the turn to make the best hand and earn the pot as a result.

Hofer Hits the River

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

There was 2,000 in the middle from preflop action as the dealer fanned a flop of {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. The first player to act was under the gun and he checked to put action onto Robert Hofer, who was in early position. Hofer also checked to the third and final player in the hand, who was in middle position and bet 1,200. The under-the-gun player folded and Hofer called.

Action went heads up to the turn {4-Clubs} and Hofer checked again. The middle-position player bet 2,100 and Hofer quickly called. The river came {k-Diamonds} and Hofer checked to his opponent once more. The player threw out a bet of 5,100 and Hofer immediately threw out a T5,000 chip again to call.

The bettor balked at showing his hand and Hofer fluidly reached back to his stack, grabbed a T100 chip, and threw it in to unnecessarily fully complete the call.

The middle-position player then tabled {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for a pair of sixes. Hofer showed {k-Spades}{6-Spades} for a pair of kings and took down the pot.

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Jason Zarlenga
Jason Zarlenga

There was around 4,000 in the pot on a board of {j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} with four players having cards in front of them. Nick Pupillo was first to act out of the big blind and checked. A player in early position then bet 1,600 and was called by Jason Zarlenga, who was in the cutoff. The final player in the hand was on the button and raised to 4,500.

Pupillo folded and both the early-position player and Zarlenga called to take action three ways to the turn {6-Spades}. All three players checked.

The river came {j-Diamonds} and the early-position player checked. Zarlenga announced a bet of 3,500 and got a fold from the player on the button and a call from the player in early position.

Zarlenga tabled {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a flush and the early-position player quickly sent his cards to the muck.
