Brinn Chips Up a Bit

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Cody Brinn
Cody Brinn

There was around 3,000 in the middle on a board of {6-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{a-Spades} in a heads-up pot between Cody Brinn, who was on the button, and his opponent in the hijack. The hijack bet 2,100 and Brinn thought for a couple of moments before putting out chips to match.

The river came {3-Clubs} and action checked through to showdown. The hijack showed {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a busted backdoor Broadway draw and Brinn tabled {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}, earning the pot with his jacks up.

Magnus Gets Value With Straight

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Five players saw a flop of {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs} to bring about 3,600 in the middle. Three checks led to the hijack betting 2,300, and only Nadya Magnus called out of the big blind.

Action proceeded heads up to the turn {j-Clubs} and both players checked. A brick river saw Magnus fire out 3,600 and her opponent quickly tossed out a T5,000 chip to signify a call, which the dealer announced.

Magnus showed {9-Hearts}{8-Spades} for the turned straight and her opponent mucked.

"Fourteen hundred," said the dealer, making change to send to the hijack. She then sent the correct pot to Magnus, who finds herself up to 34,000 after the hand.

Reilly Sends One Home

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

Action was three handed on a flop of {j-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds} with 2,500 in the middle. An under-the-gun player checked, as did Tim Reilly in the hijack. The final player in the hand was in the cutoff and made a pot-sized bet, which both players called.

The turn came {q-Hearts} and all three players checked, bringing the river {k-Spades}. The under-the-gun player went all in for her last 7,500 and Reilly took about five seconds to grab calling chips and put them into the middle. The cutoff quickly folded behind.

The under the gun player showed {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of treys, which Reilly topped with a straight as he tabled {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} to collect both the pot and the knockout.

Baime Fires Twice

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante

A player limped under the gun and action folded to the hijack, who pumped it up to 1,000. Ken Baime was on the button and called, as did the under-the-gun limper, and action went three ways to a flop of {6-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

Action checked to Baime and he bet 2,000. The under-the-gun limper folded and the hijack called. taking action heads up to the turn {7-Hearts}. The hijack checked again and Baime thought for a couple of moments before announcing a bet of 3,700.

The hijack then took a few moments himself to think about his decision, and ultimately sent his cards to the muck for Baime to take down the pot with his turn bet. Baime is up to 65,000 after winning the pot, more than doubling his stack during the first two hours of play.

"Right in the Window!"

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante
Joseph Paris
Joseph Paris

A player raised to 700 under the gun and the next three players on his left all called, the last of which was Steve Wilkie. Joseph Paris was on the button and announced a three-bet to 3,500, only to see the big blind cold four-bet all in for a bit over starting stack. Action folded back to Paris and he called all in for 12,500 total. The big blind announced that he hoped he was in a coin flip after Paris called.

Joseph Paris: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Big Blind: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The big blind was indeed in the best scenario he could have asked for, but the rest was all Paris: "Right in the window!" he said as the flop came {j-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}. The turn {2-Clubs} left the big blind drawing to one shot at two outs, which he was unable to summon as the river {4-Hearts} completed the runout to earn the double for Paris.
