Goetze Given a Gift

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

A player raised to 2,000 under the gun and John Goetze called on his direct left. A player in middle position then three-bet to 7,500 and action folded back to the original opener, who called. Goetze called as well, and the three players saw the flop come {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

The under-the-gun player checked to put action onto Goetze, who wasted no time betting 6,000. The three-bettor in middle position reraised all in just as quickly, committing his last 15,600. Action was then back on under the gun, and he looked bewildered as he went into the tank for nearly three full minutes. Eventually, he shook his head and tossed his cards to the muck. Goetze then picked up one chip from his stack and set it on top of his initial bet to signify a call.

All-In Player: {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
John Goetze: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

Goetze found himself way in front as the all-in player had shoved with nothing more than a gusthot wheel draw. The turn {6-Hearts} doubled his total outs as he picked up a backdoor open-ended straight draw, but it bricked on the river {5-Spades} and Goetze took down the pot as the other player made his way from the tournament area.

Wright Sends His Opponent Into The Tank

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

The hijack opened to 2,000 and received a call from the cutoff. Spencer Wright also called in the small blind, as did the big blind, and action went four ways to a flop of {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. All four players checked.

Wright led out with a bet of 2,500 on the turn {6-Hearts} and the big blind cut out a call. The other two players folded and action proceeded heads up to the river {6-Spades}. Wright kept his foot on the gas, betting another 6,500.

The big blind went into the tank for a full minute and then slid his cards, one by one across the felt to the muck pile to earn Wright the pot.

Reilly Gets Picked Off

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Praise Ogwo
Praise Ogwo

There was around 12,000 in the middle with three-way action on a board of {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Praise Ogwo had bet 6,000 in the small blind and received a call from the big blind. Tim Reilly was on the button and in the tank with action upon him.

After about a minute, Reilly announced he was all in and slid forward his T5,000 chips to signify the action. Ogwo asked for a count and Reilly put the rest of his chips forward to be totaled to 68,600. Ogwo went into the tank for close to four minutes.

"Can I get a clock?" asked Reilly. The dealer complied and a floor was called to the table. After about 10 seconds had elapsed from teh countdown, Ogwo set down a stack of chips. The big blind then painfully folded and Reilly tapped the table as he turned over his hand.

Tim Reilly: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Praise Ogwo: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Ogwo had called correctly with the nut flush. The big blind announced he had folded {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Ogwo saw the pot shipped his way as Reilly wished the table a good game on his way out.

Massey Misses the Triple

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Ralph Massey
Ralph Massey

Ralph Massey opened to 14,000 in the hijack, leaving just a small stack of T100 chips behind. Nick Pupillo was next to act in the cutoff and called, and the next two players folded to put action onto Jordan Helstern in the small blind. Helstern thought for about 35 seconds and then three-bet shoved for just shy of 50,000. Pupillo called.

Ralph Massey: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Jordan Helstern: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Nick Pupillo: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Massey remained ahead on the flop {6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} but found himself going from four to eight outs that he needed to fade. The turn {a-Hearts} left him in bad shape, needing to hit a two outer on the river to stay alive. It didn't come as {j-Spades} completed the runout and Massey found himself dry on chips as his stack was chopped between Helstern and Pupillo.

Heine and Lyons Get Back-To-Back Knockouts

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Keith Heine
Keith Heine

All of the chips got into the middle preflop with a player in the small blind at risk for their tournament life against Keith Heine, who was in the cutoff. It was a classic coin-flip situation.

All-In Player: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Keith Heine: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Heine remained ahead the whole way as a runout of {6-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Spades} improved him to a full house and earned him the pot that sent his opponent to the rail.

On the very next hand (and the last one before break), Pat Lyons saw himself putting a shorter stack at risk with {a-}{7-}. The other player had a better ace, but a seven came to bring Lyons up to 56,000 before dinner as well.
