The second flight of the Grand Falls $1,110 Main Event of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) fires up today at the Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, Iowa.
Day 1b starts at 3 p.m. this afternoon. With a $200,000 guarantee, 27 players have already played their way to Day 2 on Sunday. Today's entrants will look to join them, and flight 1b is their last chance to do so.
Last year's Grand Falls Main Event saw 532 total entrants generate a prize pool of $514,540, far surpassing the guarantee. It was Nicholas "grizpoker" Smith, from Indianapolis, Indiana who came out on top of that field to win $110,633 and his first MSPT title.

Players will have plenty of chances to find a bag for Day 2 action on Sunday. Players will start with 25,000 in chips and enjoy 40-minute levels to allow for plenty of deep-stack play.
Day 1b will play 15 levels or until approximately 12% of the field remains. There will be 10-minute breaks after every three levels of play. Late registration will be open until the start of level 13 (approximately 11:30 p.m.).

Jay Philips raised to 400 from early position and found two callers, the small blind and Varun Uppal in the big blind.
The flop came out and all three players decided to check the low board.
On the turn, action again checked to Uppal who elected to bet 700. The small blind folded, but Uppal made the call.
The river brought the and Uppal checked once more. Philips fired 1,500 on the final street. Uppal thought for a bit before making the call.
Philips revealed for rivered top pair, but that was no good against the slowplayed of Uppal.

Action picked up on the river in a large early pot with about 15,000 in the middle. The board showed .

Cobb bet 2,000 in position and his opponent made the call.
On the turn, Lee bet 3,500 when checked to, again his opponent made the call.
The river brought the , the backdoor flush draw completing. This time, the big blind led for 5,000. Cobb didn't think long before sliding his entire stack into the middle, about 21,000, having his opponent slightly covered.
The big blind thought for about 45 seconds and committed his stack as well.
