Madsen Loses Big Race Against Howard

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Steven Madsen
Steven Madsen

Action on the table folded around to Steven Madsen who raised all in for roughly 155,000 and Taylor Howard isolated from the small blind.

Steven Madsen: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Taylor Howard: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Madsen was behind holding two overs and the {2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts} flop gave him more outs with the nut flush draw.

Unfortunately for him, both the {9-Diamonds} turn and {10-Spades} river were bricks, ending his tournament in 26th place for $3,447.

Crews Calls Correctly and Becomes First Player Over a Milly

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 2,000 ante
Jason Crews
Jason Crews

There was heads-up action between Jason Crews from late position and Nicholas Smith from the small blind with a {2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Spades} board showing.

With over 300k already in the middle, Smith applied the pressure and moved all in, putting Crews to the test.

Crews thought for a few moments, then called off his 312,000 stack.

Jason Crews: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Nicholas Smith: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Crews made the correct call with his pocket kings and the {8-Spades} river secured his double-up.

Kapaun Eliminates Menapace on Money Bubble

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Frank Kapaun
Frank Kapaun

Frank Kapaun raised under the gun and then called the 31,000 three-bet jam John Menapace made from the small blind.

Frank Kapaun: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
John Menapace: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Menapace was way behind but the {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop gave him some hope with a gutshot straight draw.

The {10-Clubs} paired the board on the turn leaving Menapace drawing to a nine but the {j-Spades} completed the board on the river and ended his tournament on the money bubble.

Anderson Loses Races to Geier

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Nick Anderson
Nick Anderson

Nick Anderson open-jammed under the gun for 59,000 and Scott Geier called from middle position.

Scott Geier: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Nick Anderson: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Anderson was behind holding two overs and nothing changed after the {k-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop hit the felt.

The {j-Hearts} turn wasn't a bad card as it gave him more outs with a Broadway draw but the {4-Clubs} river was a brick and ended his tournament.

Winner Will be Crowned Today in the 2021 MSPT Grand Falls $1,100 Main Event

MSPT Grand Falls
MSPT Grand Falls

The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Grand Falls Casino comes to its conclusion as the final day of the $1,100 buy-in, $200K GTD Main Event gets underway at 11 a.m.

The two starting flights pulled together a staggering 532 total entries, which was enough to blast by the $200,000 guarantee. A total of 73 players found a bag during the two starting flights and those lucky enough to do so will be returning today for Day 2.

Starting the day with the overall chip lead is Darlo Vansurksum who bagged large in Day 1a and he will look to add his first MSPT title to his poker resume.

Many other familiar faces will be battling it out for a shot at the six-figure top prize which include; Jovan Sudar (278,000), Tim Garles (266,000), Nicola DiTrapani (207,000), Cy Church (183,000), James Pupillo (134,000) MSPT Hall of Famer Aaron Johnson (129,000), and two-time MSPT Champ Taylor Howard (46,000),

There will be 73 players returning for Day 2 action but only 54 spots will be grabbing a piece of the prize pool. Starting the day fairly close to the money might make for some conservative play, but judging by the first two flights the tournament should retain the action-filled play that has been up to this point.

A min-cash will be paying $2,315, but all eyes will be on the $110,633 first-place prize that the eventual champion will be taking home, along with an MSPT title.
