MSPT Riverside $1,100 Main Event ($200K GTD)

Day 1b Started

Welcome To Day 1b of the MSPT Riverside $1,100 Main Event

MSPT Riverside
MSPT Riverside

The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) continues Saturday with its second and final starting flight of the MSPT Riverside $1,100 Main Event from the lush lands of Riverside, Iowa.

Another strong showing is expected after Friday's Day 1a saw a turnout of 408, exceeding the $200K guarantee by the time the tournament even began. Today, the chances of exceeding March's inaugural turnout of 862 looks to be all but certain, and all hopefuls will be chasing after Peter Schmall's massive Day 1a chip lead of 584,000.

Players will start with 25,000 and blinds at 100/100 with a big-blind ante in play from the beginning. Levels will increase every 40 minutes with 10-minute breaks at the completion of every three levels. Late registration will remain open until the beginning of Level 13 at approximately 11:40 p.m. local time, with players having the option for one re-entry in the flight.

Cards fly at 3 p.m. local time in the Riverside Casino Event Center with 15 full levels on the docket unless 12% of the field is reached prior, and per usual, the PokerNews live reporting team will be on hand to bring you the haps from start to finish.

Zonona Wins With Queens

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante
Matt Zonona
Matt Zonona

There was 5,000 in the middle with heads-up action on a board of {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Matt Zonona checked in the hijack to his opponent in the cutoff, who bet 2,500. Zonona thought for about half a minute and then called.

The river fell {10-Hearts} and both players checked, taking the hand to showdown. Upon checking back, the cutoff showed {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}, which was bested by Zonona's {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

Ditrapani Runs Kings Into Aces

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Nicola Ditrapani on Day 1a
Nicola Ditrapani on Day 1a

Nicola Ditrapani was just seen with a stack of just 1,800 in front of him and confirmed the details on how it happened. According to Ditrapani, there was an open to 400 and a call in front of him before he three-bet to 1,900 on the button. Eric Standerson was next to act in the small blind and cold four-bet jammed for his stack of 24,700. Action folded back to Ditrapani and he looked up Standerson.

Eric Standerson: {a-}{a-}

Standerson's aces held on the runout to score the double, and he appears to have chipped up a bit more since, finding himself above two starting stacks early on Day 1b.
