Bland Bobs and Weaves to Avoid Knockout Blows

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Anthony Bland
Anthony Bland

Anthony Bland just survived two all-ins to get himself back into contention.

First, Bland was at risk against Hal Marcus preflop.

Anthony Bland: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Hal Marcus: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

Bland looked to be in good shape on the {10-Spades}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop as he drilled a set, but the turn {9-Spades} got him out of his chair as Marcus turned an open-ended straight draw.

"Don't do it to me again," pleaded Bland.

The {k-Diamonds} fell on the river and Bland doubled.

Moments later Bland was at risk again preflop, this time against Amir Taleghani.

Anthony Bland: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Amir Taleghani: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Bland appeared to be in good shape until the {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs} brought Taleghani a flush draw. The turn {9-Spades} and river {7-Spades} however were clean for Bland as he doubled again.

Leese Bluffs His Way into the Nuts at the Expense of Baime

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
David Leese
David Leese

With the flop showing {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, David Leese bet 18,000 and Ken Baime came along to the {6-Hearts} turn.

Baime checked and Leese continued for 37,000 more. Baime called and the river brought the {10-Spades}.

Baime checked again and Leese moved in for his last 55,000. After a minute of thought, Baime called.

Leese rolled over {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for a rivered Broadway straight.

"I'm the worst," said Baime as his {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs} top pair headed into the muck.

Both players sit among the leaders as the night begins to wind down.

Adrian Lopez
Adrian Lopez

Following his pocket queens versus pocket queens cooler, Lopez has spun it back up.

There was approximately 35,000 already in the middle on the {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades} turn when Adrian Lopez shoved from the big blind for 32,500. Ernesto Ouano was in the tank on the button.

"How much is it," asked Ouano.

After a count Ouano decided to lay it down and Lopez flashed the {q-Clubs} as he took down the pot.

Brutal River Leaves Penn with Piles, Lopez with Crumbs

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Danny Penn
Danny Penn

A loud reaction to a river was heard across the room and it was to the benefit of Danny Penn.

Penn was showing {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} on the {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} board, while Adrian Lopez held {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. The two players had gotten it all in on the turn each holding pocket queens, but the club river gave Penn a flush to scoop the pot.

In the aftermath, Penn surged to double the chip average, while Lopez was left with less than a starting stack.

Ken Baime
Ken Baime

Ken Baime is on a roll and he just sent another player to the rail to take a massive chip lead.

In a three-bet pot, with three players involved on the {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop, Josiah Pittman bet 8,000. He was called by one opponent and then Ken Baime moved all in having both players covered.

Pittman got out of the way but the flatter called.

Ken Baime: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Taleghani Continues Heater With Massive Cooler

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Amir Taleghani
Amir Taleghani

Shortly after his double-up, Chris Carney found himself out of the tourney after a sick hand against Amir Taleghani.

In a three-way pot with the flop showing {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{j-Spades}, there was a bet and two calls to bring the {j-Diamonds} turn.

Carney and Taleghani got all the chips in and the third player got out of the way.

Chris Carney: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Amir Taleghani: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

Carney had turned jacks full, but he was crushed by the flopped quad sixes of Taleghani. The {9-Spades} river completed the board and Taleghani is now nearing 200,000 in chips.
