Welcome to Day 1a of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) $1,110 Main Event from Sycuan Casino in San Diego. The United States Poker Championship boasts a $300,000 guaranteed tournament that also awards a trophy on top of the money won.

Players can earn their way into the Main Event with multiple $265 buy-in satellites available, where 1 in 5 players advance.

When the tour swung by in May, Sebastin Kolman took home the trophy and the $80,170 first prize to go along with it. He outlasted a field of 473 entries that smashed the $300,000 guaranteed prize pool.

There will be three starting flights taking place over the weekend (September 22nd and 24th) with a winner being determined on Day 2 (September 25th).

Day 1a will kick off at 3:00 p.m. local time. The Day 1’s will play down until just 12% of the field remains or until the end of Level 15, all remaining players will return on Day 2 and be considered in the money.

A starting stack for this event will be worth 25,000 chips and late registration will remain open until the start of level 13. An unlimited number of re-entries will be allowed but players may only bag one stack. The levels will be 40 minutes long throughout the tournament with a 10-minute break after every three levels.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all the live updates throughout the event en route to crowning another MSPT champion.

With a completed board showing {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and about 4,000 in the pot, Amir Taleghani bet 1,100.

He was met with a raise though from Thomas Bowler to 3,500.

After a minute of thought, Taleghani laid it down and Bowler took the early pot.
