Peter Braglia Leads Going Into MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event Finale

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Peter Braglia Leads Going Into Day 3
Peter Braglia Leads Going Into Day 3

Day 2 began with 309 hopefuls looking to continue their path toward poker glory and a $412,086 first-place prize. After 15 levels, just 15 players remained in the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour Venetian $1,600 Main Event.

Yet again, it was Peter Braglia who managed to bag the biggest stack, having done so already on Day 1c. This time, he will bring nearly eight million (7,925,000) to battle on the green felt. Not far behind him is Raman Afanasenko, who bagged 7,420,000 in chips.

Eliminations came swiftly out the gate of Day 2, and the bubble burst shortly after the first break of the day, with David Jackson and Jordan Jayne sharing the title of "bubble boy" after both were eliminated during hand-for-hand play at the same time at different tables.

Some notables who managed to cash include Nadya Magnus, Scott Davies, Joseph Cheong, Ryan Laplante, Ralph Perry, and Jesse Sylvia, who was all in on the direct bubble with jacks and held against {q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

The final 15 will re-draw for seats and play down to an eventual champion tomorrow at noon local time.

Stay tuned to PokerNews as we will be on site to bring you all the action from the final day of the MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event!

Liebert Spikes a Queen to Survive

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert

It appeared that a player raised in early position and Kathy Liebert went all in from middle position. Behind her, Esther Fedorkevich, who had Liebert covered, also went all in and the original raiser folded.

Liebert: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Fedorkevich: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

The {j-Spades}{k-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop and {3-Clubs} turn had Liebert all but sent to the rail, but a {q-Hearts} fell on the river --- giving Liebert a set of queens and the double up.

Wilson Sends James to The Rail With Rags

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Brock Wilson
Brock Wilson

It was folded around to the small blind, where Brock Wilson put out enough chips to pu Kenna James all in from the big. James called off and hands were revealed.

James: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Wilson: {q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

James was a favorite to double up, but the {q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} left James drawing slim.

The {2-Hearts} turn sealed the deal and an irrelevant {j-Diamonds} completed the board — knocking James out of contention.

Afanasenka Takes Out Ausmus

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Raman Afanasenka
Raman Afanasenka

Raman Afanasenka opened to 80,000 from the hijack and was called by Jeremy Ausmus in the big blind.

The flop came {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Spades} and Ausmus checked to Afanasenka, who bet 85,000. Ausmus then announced he was all in for a bit over 400,000 and Afanasenka asked for a count. After getting a rough idea of the total, Afanasenka announced a call.

Afanasenka: {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Ausmus: {5-Spades}{10-Spades}

Ausmus was on a draw and would need some help to double up and survive.

The {6-Clubs} turn and {7-Diamonds} river left Ausmus unimproved and he was eliminated from the tournamnent.

Baldwin Catches Turn; Scoops Massive Pot

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Eric Baldwin
Eric Baldwin

Three players were all in for about a 1.4 million chip pot on a {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop, including Eric Baldwin on the button and Max Corcoran in the big blind.

Early position player: {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Baldwin: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Corcoran: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}

Max Corcoran had the best of it with two pair, but the {10-Clubs} turn gave Baldwin a superior two pair to take the lead.

The {2-Spades} river bricked out and Baldwin scooped the enormous pot, leaving Corcoran with just 60,000.

Sylvia Survives The Bubble

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jesse Sylvia
Jesse Sylvia

Jesse Sylvia opened to 38,000, leaving himself just 25,000 behind. Action folded to the player in the small bind, who went all in for about 200,000. Action folded back to Sylvia, who waited until he was sure they were the last table to have an all in, and then called to put himself at risk.

Sylvia: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Small blind: {q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

"It would be a poetic way to go out," Sylvia remarked.

The board ran out {9-Spades}{j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Sylvia doubled up and avoided being the bubble boy.

Chris Moorman
Chris Moorman

Chris Moorman raised to 18,000 from the small blind and and was called by the player in the big blind.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Moorman continued for 12,000, which his opponent called.

Moormon opted to check on the {9-Diamonds} turn, prompting a 23,000 bet from his opponent. Moorman called.

The {k-Diamonds} completed the river and Moorman once again checked. This time, his opponent bet 18,000. Moorman looked a little pained, but stuck in the call.

The big blind rapped the table and mucked without showing and Moorman followed suit.
