Fortini Four-Bets

Level 8 : 300/600, 100 ante

From middle position, Hayden Fortini opened with a raise to 1,600. The cutoff seat made the call, and then Jose Rivas reraised from the button to 5,775. Play folded through the blinds and back over to Fortini. He reraised to 14,600, and that knocked the cutoff seat out of the way. Rivas took a little bit of time to think things over, but eventually folded, and Fortini won the pot.

Chinni Below 10K

Level 8 : 300/600, 100 ante

Jesse Chinni opened with a raise from the cutoff seat to 1,600, and Wayne Griffin made the call from the big blind. The flop came down {J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, and both players checked to see the {6-Diamonds} land on the turn. Griffin led with a bet of 2,000, and Chinni called.

The river was the {Q-Diamonds}, and Griffin checked. Chinni bet 5,500, and Griffin tank-called. Chinni tabled the {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a missed flush draw, and Griffin showed the winner with the {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a pair of tens.

Serock Out... Again

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Joe Serock
Joe Serock

Defending champion Joe Serock has just been eliminated... for the third time.

Serock was on his third bullet in this event, but Brandon Navarrete just caught a very lucky river card to send him out the door. On the {Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} board, Serock and Navarrete got all the money in. Serock had top pair with the {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}, and Navarrete held the {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for a pair of jacks. The dealer slapped the {J-Hearts} on the river, delivering a set of jacks to Navarrete and giving him the win.

Serock collected his belongings and headed out the door. Whether or not he'll be back (reentry will remain open until the start of Day 2) is still up in the air, but we'll give you posted if he does return.

Fortini Sends Chinni to the Rail

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Jesse Chinni was all in for around 8,000 with the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and in dominating shape to double up against Hayden Fortini's {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. On the flop, though, Fortini took the lead when the {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts} fell. The turn was the {Q-Spades} to give Chinni a Broadway straight draw for a little extra hope.

The river completed the board with the {6-Hearts}, and that was the end of the line for Chinni. Fortini collected the pot and moved up to 70,000 in chips.

Seth Finds a Double

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Andy Seth
Andy Seth

With about 4,600 chips in the middle on the {Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop, Frankie Zayas bet, Andy Seth raised, then Zayas shoved. Seth quickly made the call holding the {Q-Hearts}{9-Spades} for top two pair. Zayas had the {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for middle pair and an ace kicker.

Seth was all in on the flop for a total of 18,475, and he was able to double up after the {K-Clubs} turn card and {6-Spades} river card. Zayas was left with 54,000 in chips.

Tomlinson Scores a Touchdown to Double

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Terry Plagenz called Jeff Tomlinson's all-in shove on the {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts} board. Plagenz held the {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for second pair and claimed he didn't think Tomlinson was there yet. Tomlinson was indeed there with the {Q-Spades}{4-Spades}, leaving Plagenz drawing dead.

The river completed the board with the {4-Clubs}, and Tomlinson doubled up to 32,500. Plagenz was knocked back to 43,000.

Tuthill Out-Flips Seth to Double

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Chris Lewis opened the action with a raise to 1,600 from middle position. Right behind him was David Tuthill in the hijack seat, and Tuthill reraised all in for 15,625. Then, Andy Seth moved all in from the button to around 40,000. Action folded back to Lewis, but not after the small blind tanked for quite some time. Lewis also folded, leaving Tuthill and Seth to do battle.

Tuthill tabled the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for two big suited Broadway cards against Seth's {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. The flop was about as kind as Tuthill could have hoped for when the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} gave him the nut flush. The turn was the {9-Spades}, rendering Seth dead in the hand before the {J-Hearts} landed on the river.

Seth sent over the chips and dropped back to about 25,000 while Tuthill jumped up to nearly 35,000.
