Yong Missteps and Doubles Robl

Level 10 : 0/0, 10,000 ante
Andrew Robl
Andrew Robl

There was roughly 190,000 in the middle of the table on a board of {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Wai Kin Yong checked over to Andrew Robl who was on the button. Robl put out a bet of 150,000 and Yong thought for a bit before moving all in with a covering stack. Robl snap called and Yong let out a groan.

Wai Kin Yong: {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Andrew Robl: {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

Robl flopped a straight and that left Yong drawing to the three remaining nines to make a better straight. The turn was the {K-Clubs} and the river was the {Q-Clubs} and Robl faded to earn a double up to nearly two million chips while Yong dropped under a million.

"Why you double him up!?" Phua said, laughing at Yong's mistake.

Dwan Eclipses 2 Million

Level 9 : 0/0, 8,000 ante
Tom Dwan
Tom Dwan

After limps from Wai Kin Yong and Paul Phua, Tom Dwan raised to 75,000 on the button. Both Yong and Phua called.

The flop was {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and action checked to Dwan who put out a bet of 200,000. Yong called but Phua folded.

The turn was the {J-Spades} and both players checked. They checked a gain on the {6-Diamonds} river. Yong showed his {J-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Dwan let out a sigh of relief, then showed his {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a better pair. It would earn him the pot and move him over 2 million chips.

Badziakouski Eliminates Sass in a Massive Pot

Level 7 : 0/0, 5,000 ante
Mikita Badziakouski
Mikita Badziakouski

Mikita Badziakouski came back with the shortest stack but the first hour of play saw him sky-rocket close to the chip lead. Badziakouski won several decent pots but neither was as big as the latest one.

We caught the action on the {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop with four people contesting the pot. Alan Sass bet 80,000 in the cutoff, Badziakouski called on the button and Gabe Patgorski joined them to the turn while Wang Qiang folded his hand.

The {K-Spades} turn was checked to Badziakouski who fired 200,000. Only Sass stuck around, calling and they came to the {A-Clubs} river.

Sass checked and Badziakouski jammed for about 700,000, having his opponent covered. Sass extended his allotted time to make a decision and then made the call.

Badziakouski showed {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a flopped straight and Sass mucked his hand before leaving his seat. Badziakouski claimed the huge pot and improved to just under 2 million.

One Outer Sends Yong over 2 Million

Level 7 : 0/0, 5,000 ante
Wai Kin Yong
Wai Kin Yong

After a limp from Marius Torbergsen holding {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, Wai Kin Yong raised to 45,000 with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. Phil Ivey was on the button with {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and he raised to 200,000. Wai Kin Yong moved all in for 1,318,000 and Ivey called, putting himself at risk for about 775,000.

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{K-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Yong hit a one outer, as Torbergsen was holding the other queen, to make a full house and earn the pot. Ivey was eliminated from the tournament, giving Yong a massive stack of over 2 million chips.

"See ya," Ivey said on his way out.

Massive Double For Leow Through Lamb

Level 7 : 0/0, 5,000 ante
Ivan Leow
Ivan Leow

After a limp from Jason Koon with {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Ivan Leow moved all in holding {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for 412,000. Ben Lamb woke up behind with {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and everyone else folded, leaving the two heads up for a monster pot.

The flop came out {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts} giving Leow the lead with two pair. The turn was the {8-Diamonds} changing nothing and the river was the {10-Diamonds} filling Leow up to a boat. With that he doubled up to over 800,000 while Lamb was left with just 23,000.

Final Day of HK$1,000,000 Triton Hold'em (Short Deck) Starts at 2 p.m.

Kenneth Kee
Kenneth Kee

When it comes to high stakes poker tournaments with a six-figure buy-in, it used to be only no-limit hold'em to attract dozens of poker's most well-known faces to take a seat and battle for the whopping prizes. But the landscape has changed now with the Triton Hold'em (Short Deck Ante-Only) gaining traction. The first HK$1 Million (around $127,000) tournament took place a few months back in Montenegro and there's another such event running at 2018 Triton Super High Roller Series Jeju.

With 41 entries already made to the tournament, the prize pool is guaranteed to exceed $4 million. And there is one more hour of play left to fire new bullets and new entries so it's likely that we'll see some more registrations today.

Favorites to cruise through the rest of the registration period without a need to reload are Romain Arnaud and Kenneth Kee who both crossed 1.5 million on Day 1. Kee's play has been particularly impressive in Jeju. He's been showing great composure in the Triton Hold'em events here. He notched a runner-up finish in the opening HK$100k tournament but what makes Kee's performances truly outstanding is the way he's been navigating his stack in all events. In such a high-variance game, Kee seems to be capable to avoid massive chip-swings. He controls his stack with excellent precision.

Kee was trending practically only up on Day 1 and that's surely the direction he'd like to keep today. Some of his rivals weren't as fortunate. Phil Ivey vaulted over 400,000 early only to bow out twice. It's possible that Ivey will try his third chance today.

Who will definitely be among at least 16 runners to come back are Peter Jetten, Jason Koon, Tom Dwan, Andrew Robl and Ben Lamb so there is plenty of notable names to look forward to. PokerNews will bring you live updates from the final day so tune back at 2 p.m. to follow the coverage from the highest buy-in Triton Hold'em tournament in Jeju.
