Who Will Win the 2017 Unibet Open London Main Event?

Bhavin Khatri, Last Year's Runner-up, Still In Contention

Thirteen players remain. Only one of them will walk away victorious tonight. At 12 p.m. local time, the third and final day of the Unibet Open London Main Event at The Poker Room in the legendary "Vic" in London will kick off. The players have locked up £5,470 already, but all eyes are on the first place prize of £71,950 and the prestige that comes with being an Unibet Open champion.

Francis Foord-Brown claimed pole position on Day 2 and will be leading the pack with 1,980,000 in chips. Russia's Anton Kuznetsov is in second with 1,600,000. WSOPE Bracelet winner Pavlos Xanthopoulos, one of the biggest names left, sits in fourth with 1,175,000. They will be joined by Belgium's [Removed:158] (1,010,000), who'll be looking to make his third Unibet Open final table.

It a very international affair, with no less than 10 countries represented in the final stages of this tournament. One of the international players is Rauno Tahvonen, affectionally known as "Ben" to his friends, who will be flying under the Estonian flag. Tahvonen (26), who lived in Australia for years, runs a non-profit organisation teaching people how to skateboard. Tahvonen qualified online for this event starting at just €10 and starts with 520,000

Another interesting player to watch is Tamer Kamel. The 32-year old Brit already amassed over $1,1 million in lifetime winnings and is one of the most experienced players left. Kamel sits at 405,000 and will be looking for a big comeback.

But perhaps the biggest story is the one of Bhavin Khatri. Khatri finished second to Dave Shallow in last year's Unibet Open London, cashing £42,500. Khatri barely has time to play poker due to work obligations but took time off to compete here. The 32-year old Brit is looking to one-up his run from last year and will start the day with 1,150,000 in chips.

The 13 remaining players will be returning at noon local time in the following seating order:

Fabio Miranda
Fabio Miranda

Portuguese poker semi-pro Fabio Miranda, who lives here in London, started the day as the absolute short stack. With just a few big blinds left, Miranda pushed all in.

Francis Foord-Brown called to create the first showdown of the day.

Fabio Miranda: {K-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Francis Foord-Brown: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}

No help for Miranda on {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and he walked to the payout desk to claim his prize.

With 335,000 in chips left, Tamer Kamel shoved from early position. Pavlos Xanthopoulos called in the small blind, leaving himself with 650,000 behind.

In the big blind, Anton Kuznetsov moved all in for 1,800,000 total, putting the decision back on Xanthopoulos. The Greek thought long and hard before surrendering his hand, which turned out to be a wise decision.

Anton Kuznetsov: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Tamer Kamel: {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

Kamel was in a deep hole from the start and couldn't dig his way out of it on {J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}. He finished 12th and added £5,470 to his already massive lifetime winnings. Kuznetsov is now the new chipleader.

Dejan Govedic opened to 65,000 from the cutoff. On the button, Xanthopoulos shipped his remaining 430,000 in and Govedic called.

Dejan Govedic: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The Greek WSOPE bracelet winner blanked out on {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and headed to the rail in 11th place.

Krzysztof Jaguscik

Krzysztof Jaguscik shoved 330,000 under the gun and Francis Foord-Brown called from the small blind.

Krzysztof Jaguscik: {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Francis Foord-Brown: {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

With an icy stare, Jaguscik calmly awaited his fate as the dealer fanned out {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} on the flop. The {6-Clubs} on the turn gave the Pole additional outs, as he picked up a flush draw to go with his treys.

The river bricked with the {K-Diamonds} and Jaguscik headed to the payout desk.

The final table is now set and all remaining players will be moved to the feature table. Seating and chip counts follow.

Francis Foord-Brown opened with a raise to 80,000 holding {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. Martin Gallagher went all-in on the button for 450,000 with {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

[Removed:158] picked up {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} in the big blind and called the shove, but folded when Foord-Brown went all-in over the top.

The {K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop all but sealed it. After the {9-Hearts} on the turn it was done, making the {9-Clubs} on the river meaningless. Gallagher, a plumber in daily life, received £7,010

Manuel Bardon open-shoved 680,000 in middle position. Dejan Govedic reshoved all in from the button to get the other players out of the hand.

Manuel Bardon: {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Dejan Govedic: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

Both players paired up on {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Bardon was eliminated. The last Spaniard finished in 8th place, which netted him a sweet payday of £8,750.

Kevin Barden Eliminated in 7th Place (£10,940)

Kevin Barden
Kevin Barden

Kevin Barden was down to three big blinds and shoved {J-Clubs}{10-Spades} in early position. Gerrit Van Lancker isolated with {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} on the button to get the showdown heads-up.

The {A-Diamonds} in the window was brutal for Barden, but combined with the {6-Spades} and {Q-Clubs} the German still had a gutshot straight draw. Neither turn {3-Diamonds} nor river {9-Spades} was the king he was looking for and he was eliminated.

Barden was the first player to go home with five figures and received £10,940.

Rauno Tahvonen Eliminated in 6th Place (£13,650)

Level 25 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Rauno "Ben" Tahvonen
Rauno "Ben" Tahvonen

The nine lives of Rauno Tahvonen are over. The Estonian crowd favorite survived multiple all-ins miraculously, but as he remained super short it had to end at one point.

Tahvonen shoved {A-Clubs}{J-Spades} under the gun for less than two big blinds and got three callers, including Francis Foord-Brown with {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}. The flop was {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Foord-Brown bet 275,000 to get the other players out.

The Twitch rail begged for a ten for their hero, but the {4-Hearts} on the turn and {7-Spades} on the river failed to deliver. Tahvonen's run ended in 6th place, turning his €10 investment into £13,650.

Level 26 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
[Removed:158] & Bhavin Khatri
[Removed:158] & Bhavin Khatri

Bhavin Khatri's second deep run in two years has come to an end in fifth place. Last year, Khatri almost went all the way and finished second to Dave Shallow, cashing £42,500.

The 32-year old, who runs his own tennis academy in Harrow, couldn't get much going at this year's final table. Khatri had to wait out the super short stacks and dwindled down himself in the process.

With a few big blinds remaining, Khatri picked up {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} and got it all in against [Removed:158], who held {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Khatri's dreams were smashed on a {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades} board, as Van Lancker found the king he needed.

The academy owner added £17,720 and another Unibet Open final table to his poker resumé.
