Texas Dali

A player calling himself Dali opened a pot with a raise to 6,000, and Yury Kerzhapkin was the lone caller. On a flop of {5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Dali would check-fold to a bet of 8,000.

The next hand was more of the same as Dali once again opened to 6,000 and Kerzhapkin came right along. This time though, the big blind moved all in for about 35,000, and Dali moved all in over the top. That was enough to fold Kerzhapkin out of the way. The at-risk player showed up {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts}, and Dali proudly tabled {A-Spades} {A-Hearts}.

The board would provide hope but ultimately fail to change anything as it ran {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. That marks the end of another player, and Dali has moved up to 120,000 in the process.

O'Shea Busts Callaghan

John O'Shea has eliminated Dave 'Halibut2' Callaghan after the latter checked-called the whole way on a {5-?} {6-?} {6-?} {7-?} {9-?} board, calling all-in on the river.

O'Shea showed {6-?} {5-?} for a flopped boat and Callaghan simply mucked and left the table.

Hey! That Was My Soda

Stephan Ouzilou opened the pot under the gun with a raise to 7,500, and the action folded all the way around to the blinds. In the small, Joel Benzinou stuck in a three-bet to 23,500, and Ouzilou quickly made the call.

Heads up, the flop came out {9-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}. Benzinou methodically began to cut out chips, and Ouzilou was mirroring his every move, cutting out matching chips from his own stack and adjusting the amount in his hand as Benzinou made up his mind. He finally settled on 32,500, and the calling chips of Ouzilou went into the pot simultaneously.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds}, and Benzinou acted very deliberately again. He would pull a big bet from his stack and think it over for several minutes before slowly checking. Ouzilou checked in unison, and the river was the {10-Diamonds}. As if his chips were made of glass, Benzinou placed a bet of 52,000 in the middle. Ouzilou instantly announced an all in, and Benzinou mucked just as quickly. He shot out of his chair and stormed to the rail, sending his chair and a table full of drinks crashing to the floor in the process.

He's slipped back to about 90,000 after that misstep, and Ouzilou is now very near the top of the board with about 310,000.

Big Pot For Lacay...

With about 60,000 in the pot, Ludovic Lacay saw his opponent move all-in for 61,100 on a {7-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {7-Spades} board. Lacay, who was runner-up at the WPT in Barcelona a few years back, tanked for a good five minutes. The bet represented nearly half his stack but eventually he called.

His opponent tapped the table and showed {9-Spades} {6-Hearts} losing out to Lacay's {J-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}.

Lacay is over the 200,000 mark.

So Long, Liz Lieu

Liz Lieu
Liz Lieu was all in before the flop with two big cards, {A-?} {Q-?}. She found action from a player with {4-?} {4-?} and the covering stack, and the race was on for the tournament life of the last woman standing.

The flop was an airball for her as it came {2-?} {3-?} {6-?}. A third {4-?} on the turn left Lieu drawing dead to a chop, and the river {6-?} did nothing to help her cause.

With that, the cheerful hostess of this event, referred to as "The Poker Diva" is no more. We're now left with a room full of 75 men.

Spindler Doubles

Benny Going Up The Hill...
Benny Going Up The Hill...
UTG raised to 6,800 and Benny Spindler called from the button, the flop was {7-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} and the UTG player check-raised Spindler's 10,000 bet to 23,000. Spindler shoved for another 60,000 or so causing some major tankage but eventually a call from {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}, actually ahead of Spindler's {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}.

The {J-Hearts} helped neither player but the {Q-Spades} river doubled Spindler up, putting on about the 175,000 mark.

Paying Paulsen

We caught up with a hand on the turn as the board read {8-Spades} {K-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {K-Hearts}. There was about 18,000 in the pot already, and Kai Paulsen put out a bet of 13,000. His lone opponent, Guillaume de la Gorce, looked Paulsen up and down before flicking in the call.

The river brought the {4-Clubs}, and an all in from Paulsen. With his last 27,000 chips committed to the pot, he had to sit still for several long minutes while de la Gorce again gave him a hard stare. After breaking down his stack to see what the damage would be, de la Gorce finally made what looked like a reluctant call.

Paulsen tabled {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}, and de la Gorce couldn't beat a full house. He returned his cards to the muck, his stack now significantly lighter. Paulsen was the beneficiary, doubling his way up to about 85,000.
