Le Baron On the Clock

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Sebastien Le Baron spent a good deal of yesterday as one of the chip leaders until he was bluffed of a big pot and has been unable to climb the leader board since then. The clock was called on Le Baron when he had bet 26,500 on the turn of a board showing {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and his opponent had shoved for 80,000.

The floor arrived and gave Le Baron a countdown and with seconds to spare he said, “Pass.” and slid his cards forward.

Pourquoi? Pourquoi?

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

There was an open under the gun for 4,300 from one of the several women left in the field and a call from Sebastien Didier in middle position. The small blind made it 12,500 and they both called. The flop was {3-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} and a check from the small blind prompted a bet of 17,500 from the original raiser. Didier folded and the small blind moved all in for 45,000 which was most of her remaining stack.

“Pourquoi? Pouquoi” She lamented, and repeated it again a few times but did make the call. The player in the small blind showed his {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and she turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. The turn card was the {j-Hearts}but on the river the {10-Diamonds} popped out of the deck to beat her queens. A flurry of French swears sprang from her mouth and her queens were thrown across the table in disgust.

Soutavong Happy To Gamble

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Bruno Soutavong
Bruno Soutavong

Bruno Soutavong opened from early position for 5,000 and the player next to him moved all in for 16,000. A couple of players looked like they were interested but the action eventually folded back round to Soutavong. His stack has taken a few hits today but he remains willing to gamble in these spots, especially when his stack is not at risk, and threw in the calling chips.

Soutavong flipped over his {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} without a care in the world and the all in player proudly showed his {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. He would be thumoing the table in anger however when the flop of {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{7-Hearts} gave him hope and then snatched it away to give Soutavong two pair. The turn {j-Clubs} and river {k-Spades} produced a full house. The flash of anger was gone almost immediately and he shook Soutavong’s hand before leaving.
