Ilan Boujenah just leaned back, and told us what happened that made him so hopping mad minutes ago.
He was indeed facing the all in, and he was leaning towards a fold. The countdown had started, and áfter the floor had announced zero (which meant his hand was dead), he kind of moved his chips in the air forward to get a (late) reaction from his opponent, hoping that he would show his cards to make an end to the uncertainty.
Anyway, after this happened, some accusations of angle shooting erupted, while Boujenah didn't mean any harm and just really wanted to know his opponents hand.
That was it, and with just two hands missed (though it were the cutoff and hijack position he was missing out on), Boujenah is now again calm and collected.
With the start of the second level, registration has closed. Right now the clock says 404 entries were made, but we'll await the official numbers before we make any other announcements.
Well, the prize pool has been announced. There's $1,471,320 to be divided. How many places get paid, and what awaits the winner, will be made public in a little bit.
Now that's confusing right? Jack and Louis Salter are brothers, and one of them is doing well, the other is out.
Louis Salter already had quite a big stack as we showed up, and got some more in the hand we witnessed.
The big blind checked, and the hijack bet out 3,500 on . Salter made the call, the big blind folded.
The fell on the turn, and the hijack continued for 6,200. Salter on the button bumped it up to 13,300, and the call followed.
The hijack didn't want to commit anymore though, he check folded to Salter's 27,700 bet after the hit the river.
His brother Jack Salter, EPT Monte Carlo runner up, has been eliminated. He had gotten really short, and shoved with seven-six and got called by . No hit meant no dough for Jack.
We're not sure how Dempsey got short, as he started the day with a way above average. We are sure he's out though, as our World Poker Tour blog colleague told us.
Alexander Denisov opened with a raise to 2,600 from the cutoff, and James Dempsey defended his big blind with just 6,000 behind.
With a front push on , Dempsey made the stop and go move we saw all too often years ago, but has become a rarity in the modern poker era.
Denisov wasn't impressed, and made the call with as soon as he found out the 6,000 Dempsey had put forward, was all there was. Dempsey turned over for two live cards and a gutshot.
The took away the kings and jacks as outs for Dempsey, and the on the river wasn't going to cut it either. Dempsey eliminated, Denisov at about 80,000.
Alexey Rybin has been eliminated from the tournament. He shoved his short stack in with , and ran into pocket aces. That means the partypoker World Poker Tour Merit North Cyprus Classic will crown a new champion this year, all we have to do is wait a couple of days to find out who it will be.
