Fundaro Calls and Calls and Calls and Calls

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

The player in the hijack seat raised to 350 before Giacomo Fundaro three-bet to 975 from the cutoff. With action on Carter Swidler on the button, he put in a four-bet to 1,950, getting a call from Fundaro.

The dealer fanned a flop of {4-Hearts}{q-Spades}{k-Spades} and Fundaro checked. Swidler continued with a bet of 1,300 and received a call, going to a turn of {3-Clubs}.

It checked to Swidler again, and he bet 2,600 this time, getting another called from Fundaro.

The river card was the {4-Spades} and, once again, Fundaro checked. Swidler put out one more bet, making it 4,500. Fundaro called fairly quickly, but never showed his cards. He couldn't beat the {5-Spades}{8-Spades} in Swidler's hand for a flush.

Nguyen Gets In a Raising War

Level 3 : 75/150, 25 ante

A player in middle position limped preflop before Thi Nguyen raised to 625 from the hijack seat. Omid Shahbazian was on her direct left in the cutoff position and he three-bet to 1,750.

The limper let go of his cards and action was on Nguyen. She thought for a few moments before reaching for chips, but not calling chips. She four-bet to 4,000.

Shahbazian took a few moments before raising again. He five-bet to 7,800, leaving himself about 24,000 behind.

Nguyen went in the tank. After almost a minute of though, she flicked her cards forward to fold.

Lee Makes a Big All-in Call

Level 3 : 75/150, 25 ante

After action folded around the table, the player in the cutoff open-shoved his stack of about 12,500 preflop. On his left was Darlene Lee and she peeked at her cards. She had a tough decision and spent half a minute thinking about the tricky spot, clearly holding a fairly strong hand.

In time, she pushed forward calling chips and the two were revealed to be racing.

Lee: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The flop of {3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts} was all low, but it gave Lee gutshot outs to a straight. The turn brought the doom card. The {4-Hearts} filled the straight and her opponent was only drawing to a six to chop the pot.

The {9-Diamonds} sealed his fate and all of his chips went to Lee.

Folding Flushes

Level 3 : 75/150, 25 ante

Aaron Mermelstein was put to the test when he was faced with a big raise on the river. With the board reading {2-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, Randy Gonzales checked in the small blind. Donald Abdelhay bet out 3,300 and Mermelstein called.

With action back on Gonzales, he raised to 8,800 and Abdelhay took several moments before giving up his hand. Then Mermelstein went in the tank for almost a minute, finally giving up his hand.

"Did you have a flush?" Mermelstein asked Abdelhay.

He nodded. "Did you?"

"Yeah," said Mermelstein.

"So that means he didn't," Abdelhay said, referring to Gonzales who was scooping up the chips.

James is Back for More

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Jason James is here for his third day in a row, looking to bag a stack for Day 2. So far, he's still hovering around a starting stack.

Edward Bialorucki opened the pot with a raise to 700 and James called. The flop came {5-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Bialorucki check-called a bet of 1,000 from James.

The turn was the {k-Spades} and Bialorucki checked again. James bet 2,000 and won the pot when his opponent gave up.

Big Pot With Aces

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

There was a big pot growing on table 61 with Daniel Mason and James Rubin head up on a board of {2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. There was already more than 35,000 in the middle and Mason checked.

Rubin pushed all in for his remaining 7,000 and his opponent called. Rubin flipped over {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} and scooped up the large pot when Mason slid his cards in the muck.
