Andrey Shatilov, who finished 16th at this event last year, has just been eliminated. While he didn't really want to discuss his exit hand, he simply said, "I lost many little pots," before telling us he would be re-entering the WPT again tomorrow.
Kiriakos Paliyiannis has got quite the staying power. He's apparently been all in four times but somehow escaped each time. He's the ultimate survivor, which makes him a bit like Keith Richards.
He was all preflop with against two players, one of whom was Chadi Ojelli. Ojelli then bet his opponent out of the hand on the turn of a board revealing . Paliyiannis only had but the river was the , aces and deuces beating kings and sixes for the pot.
According to some tablemates, Paliyiannis is guaranteed to finish second...
Former November Niner Kelly Kim has been knocked out, he pushed his last 5,000 in the middle with but Igor Dorozhkin picked up and the board proved to be unforgiving.
Rami Shouman has a monster stack and he is running over the table, torturing his opponents with constant raises and a refusal to fold against shorter stacks. Any attempt to bet small against him on early streets and he takes it away on later streets. Just reaching for chips has made some opponents on the table toss their cards to the dealer. On his left is player with a stack of 17,000, Shouman has over 100,000. He also has a tower of green 25 chips, so he gets to be the change guy. He’s loving life.
Then one man made a stand. Shouman bet his usual 1,100 and faced a raise from Roger Hairabedian from the big blind. Shouman called, of course he did. The dangerous looking flop of did not deter Hairabedian who led for 4,000. Shouman called. The hit the turn. 8,000 bet from Hairabedian and a call from the chip leader. The river was completing any flush draws that were lurking out there. Could Hairabedian keep his nerve?
He could and bet 15,000 with not much more of that left behind. Shouman duly raised to 36,000 representing huge strength. This was no time to back down for Hairabedian who moved all in. If Shouman had anything surely he was getting the right price but he just said “Nice hand, you got it?”
Hairabedian wanted the table to see and revealed his . Will that affect the dynamic on the table?
A J Brock, poker room manager at the Wynn (Macau), had the look of a mightily relieved man as he played the last hand before players went on a break. It had been a long tough day and he was down to his last 13,000.He had raised an opener and was awaiting the decision. Brock couldn’t call fast enough when his opponent, Siyar Erzen, raised all in. Brock’s was up against Erzen’s . The board ran out and Brock got his double up.
Seriously, if you're playing right next to the media area and you play a lot of hands, you're always going to get more coverage - apologies to everyone else.
Sam Trickett bet 2,600 on a flop, Atanas Gueorguiev flat-called before Bernard Latouf check-raised to 6,600. Trickett tanked for a couple of minutes and genuinely looked like he was going to fold but at the last second he flicked his remaining 18,450 in the middle instead. Gueorguiev quickly folded and Latouf got a count before making a reluctant call.
Trickett:
Latouf:
The on the turn took and gave Latouf some outs but the meant nothing and Trickett doubled up to about 45,000.
