Early Knockouts

On the first pot of the day, Michael Cohen raises to 3,000, and short-stacked Matt Brady pushes his last 6,100 chips in, showing the {Q-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. Cohen has the {A-Spades}{5-Spades}, and on a board of {2-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{J-Spades}, Brady is eliminated early.

On the adjacent table, also on the first hand, Jonathan Little and Robert Jones get it in before the flop, and Little's pocket nines hold up to send Jones packing.

Prudhomme Eliminated

Jason Brice raises to 7,000 from early position. Dana Diephouse calls from middle position and then Paul Prudhomme moves all in on the short stack from the big blind. Three players see the flop and one is all in.

The flop goes check, check between Brice and Diephouse on a {3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Spades} board. The turn brings the {5-Diamonds} and Brice moves all in. Diephouse folds.

Brice shows 6-6 and Prudhomme shows {A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. The river is the {K-Spades} and Prudhomme is eliminated.

Doug 'Rico' Carli moves all in after a bet from John Ryan. Carli shows the Q-J and Ryan shows K-10. The board is K-A-A-2-3 and Carli is eliminated.

Carli had been attempting to post a record 35th cash on the WSOP circuit; he holds the current record of 34.

Espo Going the Wrong Way

Co-leader Lou Esposito has started the day in his aggressive mode, and his chipstack has been suffering as a result. Two pots in a row, he came in raising to 3,100 and folded to a big re-raise each time.

In the latest pot, he again came in for 3,100, but this time the big blind, Soren Eriksen, flat called, and the two players saw a flop of {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. Eriksen checked, and Esposito fired a continuation bet of 4,600.

Eriksen grabbed hold of his whole stack, and slid it forward, check-raising to 21,900 and all in. Esposito went into the tank for almost five minutes, before finally relinquishing his hand, and sending more than 7,000 chips to the other end of the table.

Little Catches a Card

Jonathan Little, on the button, and Clint Shafer, in the big blind, get all their chips in preflop. Little flips over {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Shafer is covered, but has the best hand with {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}.

However, his lead in the hand doesn't last long. The flop comes {6-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, giving Little a set, and putting Shafer on the brink of elimination. The {3-Hearts} and {4-Diamonds} that follow don't allow Shafer to catch back up, and he is eliminated.

Little increases his chip count to around 62,000.
