2008 WSOPC Hammond - Day 1

Chicagoans rejoice: the biggest buy-in tournament in Chicago metro
area history begins on Halloween afternoon. It's the WSOP Circuit
Horseshoe Hammond, taking place at this completely renovated riverboat on Lake Michigan. The Horseshoe Hammond now boasts the largest poker room in the entire Midwest, with 34 poker tables and two PokerTek electronic tables. The preliminary events here have drawn huge crowds, and this $5,000 + $150 main event promises to be no exception.

Check back at noon Central time for the start of Day 1!

Bohlman for Dollars

A player checks a flop of {J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, Bohlman bets 350, and the opponent calls.

They check the turn {7-Clubs}. On a river of {3-Hearts}, the opponent checks and Bohlman bets 925. The opponent calls.

Bohlman flashes {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and his opponent says he had Q-J. Bohlman's up to 22,000 in early action.

One Sixty One Plus

There are at least 161 players in this event, with registration still open. That means attendance is double the other Indiana circuit event a few weeks ago.

Louie K Busts a Player

The loud and boisterous Ilias "Louie K" Kellikidis went all in and was called on a flop of {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. The opponent had {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a made straight and Louie had but {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for top and bottom pair. The turn and river were {10-Spades}{K-Spades} and the miracle full house took out Louie's opponent, bringing him up to 40,000.
