2008 World Series of Poker Circuit Event - Lake Tahoe: Day 2

Welcome back to Harvey's Hotel and Casino in South Lake Tahoe for our continued coverage $5,150 Championship Main Event. It took eight hours of play yesterday to trim the field down to 55 from 132 and those who survived the day will return to the felt at 12:00 noon local time to resume play.

Chris Dombrowski finished the day atop the leaderboard as the only player with over 100,000 in chips. Hot on his tail, however, is fellow big stack Ty Stewart, who will begin the day seated to Dombrowski's right. They stayed out of each other's hair for the most part yesterday, but today, as the field gets smaller, they might find it hard to avoid each other altogether.

We'll also be keeping an eye out on the many big names who made it to Day 2: Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson, Scott Clements, Kathy Liebert, Michael Binger, Allen Kessler, Aaron Kanter, Tim Vance and Robert Cheung. Also noteworthy is the progress of one Travis Erdman, who's made the final table of this event in each of the last two years. He'll be trying for his third straight today, and he's got a great chance to do so, as he'll start the day fifth in chips with 71,300.

Paul now sits with about 13,000 in chips while Nakano dropped to 8,000.

Brown asked "How big?" and Harvey showed his {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds}. Brown grimaced and flipped up {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. The turn gave Brown the lead with the {4-Clubs}, but it was short lived as the {7-Hearts} landed on the river. Harvey was up to 26,000 after the hand.

Mark Muchnik

Mark Muchnik managed to survive what could've been a fatal catastrophe after getting it all in preflop. Muchnik was drawing to two outs, holding pocket jacks against the pocket aces of opponent Jason Sanders.

The {J-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {2-Spades} {4-Spades} {7-Clubs} board saved Muchnik, giving him jacks full of fours and renewed hope. After the hand, Muchnik improved to approximately 22,000 in chips while Sanders dropped below 30,000.
