Frank Wyville Doubles Up through David Dao

Preflop, David Dao raised to 12,000. Frank Wyville reraised to 27,000 to go. Dao then decided to move all in and Wyville goes into the tank.

Finally, Wyville says "I haven't called all in with this hand all tournament, but I call."

Wyville: {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}
Dao: {Q-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}

Wyville let out a "Yes!" He then calms down quickly, realizing that he still could be outdrawn.

The flop fell {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} and Captain Tom Franklin said, "There you go." The turn of the {2-Clubs} and river of the {5-Clubs} missed both players and Wyville doubled up to 289,200 in chips. He is now the new chip leader.

Paula Halata Eliminated in 27th Place

Paula Halata - 27th Place
Paula Halata - 27th Place
Preflop, Gavin Smith raised to 8,500 and Paula Halata tried to call with only 6,000. The dealer corrected her mistake and both players saw the flop of {10-Spades} {9-Clubs} {9-Spades}.

Smith bet 35,000, which was enough to put Halata all in and she made the call.

Smith: {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds}
Halata: {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs}

Halata needed one of the remaining tens to win the hand. The turn fell the {7-Diamonds} and the river fell the {J-Diamonds}. Halata then got up to leave and let everyone know that "It was fun. Actually, it wasn't fun, but I was happy to be here."

After the hand, Smith moved up to around 145,000 in chips.

David Rylander Eliminated in 26th Place

After a raise in front of him, David Rylander moved all in with his short stack. Next to him, Quentin Battle looked down at {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} and moved all in himself. The original raiser eventually folded, and Rylander tabled his {8-Hearts} {8-Clubs}, trailing and at risk of elimination.

Much to his displeasure, the board ran out {A-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}, failing to improve him. With that, David Rylander makes his exit in 26th place.

Pat Walsh Eliminated in 25th Place

Pat Walsh - 25th Place
Pat Walsh - 25th Place
We pick up the action on the flop in a heads-up confrontation between Pat Walsh and Jeremiah Vinsant. Walsh was the preflop raiser, and there were about 14,000 chips in the pot.

The dealer ran out the flop: {7-Hearts} {7-Spades} {J-Hearts}. After taking a moment or two to consider, Walsh moved the rest of his short stack into the middle. Vinsant beat him into the pot with his own chips, turning over {K-Spades} {J-Clubs}. Walsh could only show {6-Clubs} {6-Spades}, and he was in danger of being eliminated.

The turn and river were blanks, {2-Diamonds} and {A-Diamonds} respectively, and that spells the end of Pat Walsh.

Table Talk... Or a Lack Thereof

Day 1 was a relatively jolly day here in the Events Center at Harrah's. The tables were abuzz with chatter, both poker and non-poker related. Occasionally, a full table would break out in hysterical laughter at a well-timed comment from a player or dealer.

Things are a bit different on Day 2 though. About half the field is secluded away under their headphones, sitting statue-still with eyes darting around the table. Gone are the jokes and the laughter, replaced instead by an air of seriousness and gravity.

Gavin Smith noticed. Leaning back in his chair, he peered over at Table 4. "Where's Matt Stout and why can't we hear you yet?"

"I'm starting off a little slow today, I'm sorry," came the reply from Stout, showing a slight smirk. With the talkative "Captain" Tom Franklin and Kathy Liebert at the same table, it's likely only a matter of time before the conversation once again turns jolly.

Glenn Hyde Doubles Up

Glenn Hyde moved all in two straight hands in a row. The second time, he was called by Kai Landry.

Hyde: {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}
Landry: {5-Diamonds} {7-Spades}

Hyde took a dominating lead on the flop of {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {3-Hearts}. The turn gave him a sweat when the {4-Spades} hit, giving Landry a straight draw. The river came the {Q-Clubs} to give Hyde a full house and to double him up to around 56,000 in chips.
