Nguyen Finds His Double

Level 25 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

From middle position, Sean Knitter limped into the pot, and Ari Engel raised to 72,000 from the hijack seat. On the button, Kenny Nguyen shoved all in for 123,000 total, and Engel called to put him to the test.

Showdown
Engel: {J-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}
Nguyen: {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

The board ran out clean for Nguyen, coming {5-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {5-Spades} {Q-Clubs} to secure his double up. He's back to 338,000 now, dropping Engel down to 460,000.

Engel Donates Another Double

Level 25 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

In early position, Ari Engel shoved all in for more than 400,000 total. In middle position, Ramana Epparla called all in for his last 379,000, and the rest of the table ducked out of the battle. With Epparla at risk again, the cards were turned up.

Showdown
Engel: {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}
Epparla: {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}

The dealer kept Epparla's pair safe, spreading a {10-Hearts} {8-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {J-Hearts} board to ship him the double up. He's back to 826,000 after having just 19,000 earlier in this level.

It's now Engel who finds himself on the short stack, left with just 81,000 after losing that flip.

A Double of His Own

Level 25 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

One hand after his crippling, Ari Engel raised to 72,000 under the gun, leaving one gray T5,000 chip capping his cards. Kenny Nguyen raised to 140,000, and Engel dropped his last chip into the pot, all in for 77,000.

Showdown
Engel: {7-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}
Nguyen: {K-Spades} {J-Spades}

The {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} flop was as blank as it gets for Engel, needing to find his six-outer to stay afloat. He found it on the {9-Hearts} turn, then peeled the {9-Spades} off on the river just for good measure. Engel's suited gapper gives him the double back to 222,000, still the shortest stack at the table.

Engel Doubles Again!

Level 25 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Sean Knitter opened the pot to 60,000 from the button, and both blinds (Ari Engel and Ramana Epparla) came along with calls to see the flop.

The dealer fanned {7-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {7-Clubs}, and the blinds checked to let Knitter continue out with a bet of 95,000. Engel called (with just 35,000 chips left behind), while Epparla ducked out of the way. That led the other two heads up to the {7-Hearts} turn, and Engel stuck those last few chips into the pot. Epparla called with {A-Clubs} {2-Hearts}, and Engel proudly showed that his {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} was unbeatable. Epparla had one out to chop, but the river {10-Diamonds} gives Engel his second double in three hands.

He's up to 472,000 now, recovering almost completely from that lost race against Epparla an orbit ago.

Knitter's Turn to Shove

Sean Knitter
Sean Knitter

Ramana Epparla raised to 67,000 from early position and was called by Sean Knitter in the big blind.

Knitter checked in the dark as the flop came down {Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Epparla checked behind to see the {9-Diamonds} hit the turn. Another check from Knitter led to a bet of 100,000 from Epparla. Knitter raised, though, getting in his stack of 309,000 into the middle. Epparla folded, giving the pot to Knitter.

Cotter Doubles Through Hwang

Ed Cotter
Ed Cotter

From middle position, Robert Hwang made it 67,000 to play. Next to act, Ed Cotter shoved from the hijack for 309,000. Action folded around to Hwang who called with {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Cotter tabled a dominating {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, but hated to see the flop come down {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} to give Hwang a ton of outs. The {J-Clubs} turn kept Cotter ahead, but did add a few chop outs to the equation. However the river was a safe {2-Hearts} for Cotter, doubling to nearly 700,000.

Epparla Back on Top

Level 26 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Well, it's been quite a day for Ramana Epparla. We hope he took his blood pressure meds this morning. After beginning the day with a 3:1 chip lead over second place, Epparla tumbled all the way down to just 19,000 during the last level. Things have turned around once again.

The last pot began with Sean Knitter limping in from middle position and Epparla following suit a couple seats over. From the button, Robert Scott raised to 80,000, and both of the limpers called to see a three-handed flop. It brought {4-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {A-Spades}, and Scott continued out with another 80,000. That folded Knitter, but Epparla check-called to see the next card.

The turn came the {Q-Diamonds}, and Epparla checked again. "One fifty," announced Scott, sliding out 150,000. Epparla proceeded to check-raise all in for 523,000 total, and Scott immediately called to see the cards. Epparla was well ahead as his {Q-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} had made trips against Scott's {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts} on fourth street. Now it was Scott needing to find the two-outer to finally extinguish Epparla, but the river {2-Hearts} was as blank as it gets.

"Wow... 19 thousand chips," Kenny Nguyen said, shaking his head.

Epparla drags that big pot, doubling up in a large way; he's back in the chip lead with 1.523 million again. Scott's still in second place, but he's fallen back to about 1.15 million thanks that that untimely turn card.
