Zolotow Bubbles Final Table

Steve Zolotow - 10th Place
Steve Zolotow - 10th Place

Owens Shoves and Hartmann Can't Call - 6:48 PM

Anthony Hartmann raised to 43,000 and then Mark Owens reraised all in fro 253,000. Hartmann tanked for several long minutes as media, fans and the other players looked on to see if this would be the final hand. It wouldn't be though as Hartmann slid his hand into the muck and lost the pot. He dropped back to 300,000.

Check-Call, Check-Fold - 6:52 PM

James Anderson made it 38,000 to go, opening the pot from under the gun. Bernard Lee called on the button, and it was heads up to the flop. Anderson checked when it came {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}, and he called a bet of 42,000 from Lee. The dangerous {Q-Diamonds} hit fourth street, and Anderson checked again. Lee stacked out another bet, 86,000 this time, and that was enough to win the pot.

Lee is up to about 460,000 now, dropping Anderson down to 365,000.

Aggression from Sands Wins - 7:11 PM

Dave "Doc" Sands raised from early position and made it 37,000 to go. Shannon Shorr called from the hijack seat, Gabe Patgorski called from the small blind and Brandon Adams called from the big blind.

The flop was {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and action checked to Sands. He fired 107,000 and everyone else folded. Sands moved up to 970,000 in chips.

Sands Over a Milli - 7:21 PM

First in from the cutoff, Gabe Patgorski raised to 40,000, and Dave Sands called from the big blind. Heads up, the flop brought {7-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {3-Spades}, and Sands checked to the raiser. Patgorski led out with 22,000, and Sands check-raised to 84,000. Patgorski reraised to 135,000 (too small for a legal raise, but it got through), but the action wasn't over there. Sands proceeded to reraise to 239,000 straight, and Patgorski flat-called.

The turn brought the {9-Clubs}, and Sands moved all in for more than 550,000 total. Patgorski took a long while to consider before surrendering his hand to the muck, sending a big pot across the table.

"First hand I lost all day," Patgorski lamented as his stack slipped a bit to 2.2 million. He's still the chip daddy, but Sands is in second place now with about 1.26 million. "Glad it was to me," was the reply from Sands as he stacked up.

Steve Zolotow Eliminated in 10th Place ($39,346) - 7:30 PM

Dave "Doc" Sands had been raising just about every single hand at the unofficial final table making it only fitting that he was the one to do the deed of sending Steve Zolotow out the door in 10th place.

After Sands opened yet another pot with a raise, making it 37,000 to go, Zolotow moved all in for 87,000. Action folded back to Sands and he quickly called, revealing the {A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. Zolotow held two lives cards with the {K-Spades}{2-Spades}.

The crowd swarmed close to the table as the flop was prepared and then dealt. The {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades} rolled off first and Zolotow didn't find too much help. There was only one spade and no pair, making Sands' ace high the best hand still.

The turn was the {A-Diamonds} and that was the card that ended things, with Zolotow now drawing dead. The river card was the {K-Hearts} to officially end things.

Zolotow went out in 10th place and can add another great run to his successful poker career. Unfortunately, he'll only be leaving with $39,346 in prize money as he bubbles the official final table.

The final 24 players returned to The Venue today inside the Horseshoe Hammond to play for a seat at the final table and a golden ticket to the season finale million-dollar freeroll (with a bracelet up for grabs). They were rewarded with a short day as the trip down to nine players was completed in just about six hours of play. Start-of-day chip leader Gabe Patgorski had himself another whale of a day, and he'll once again be the man to beat when the final table commences.

Coming into the day with a short stack, Mohsin Charania was the second casualty of Day 2 when his {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs} couldn't overcome David Adkison's {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} thanks to a {K-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {10-Spades} flop. A few minutes later, Adam Levy got his money in good with {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} against James Anderson's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}, but he was crushed by a board of {Q-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}. He was out in 21st place, followed immediately by Shawn Busse in 20th. Justin "BoostedJ" Smith met his demise next, getting it in with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} against Curt Kohlberg's {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds} on an {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {9-Hearts} flop. He could not catch up to stay alive, exiting in 19th place. Keven Stammen was simultaneously eliminated in 18th place, losing a flop with {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} against Shannon Shorr's {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. That cued the redraw down to two tables, and Day 1 chip leader Ryan Julius was out in 17th before the first level had expired.

After the initial flurry of action, the second level saw just one player eliminated, Jeremy Schwartz. He doubled up his short stack once at the start of the level, but he managed to run his {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts} into Bernard Lee's {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} to seal his fate.

The stacks started to explode in the third level of the day as Patgorski took his count from 590,000 all the way up to 1.58 million. Chris Klodnicki fell in 15th place, losing a race with pocket nines against the {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs} of Anderson. Just a moment later, David "Bakes" Baker ran his {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} into Shannon Shorr's aces, and he could not catch up to avoid a 14th-place finish.

Twelve players survived that level, and Dan Perper and David Paredes fell during the next round to bring the field down to ten and bring on the final redraw of the event. When the players combined around the unofficial final table, Gabe Patgorski's 2.4 million chips gave him more than a 2:1 lead over his newest challenger, Shannon Shorr.

It took almost a full level to reduce the field by one more, and it was Full Tilt Red Pro Steve Zolotow who takes the proverbial wooden spoon today. It was a three-bet shove that got Zolotow's small 87,000-chip stack into the middle with {K-Spades} {2-Spades}, thought he was drawing live when David Sands called with the {A-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}. An ace on the turn ended Zolotow's day in 10th place.

So then, we have our final table roster for this first-ever Circuit Regional Championship. None of our finalists have a bracelet yet, and their tickets to the season-ending National Championship will give them one more shot at fixing that before the 2011 WSOP.

That's all we have for tonight, but we'll be back to finish out the story tomorrow. It promises to be a captivating final table under the bright lights of the television set, and we hope to see you right back here as we crown our Midwest Regional Champion for the 2010-11 World Series of Poker Circuit. The final table begins at 2:00pm local time, and when they reconvene, they'll stack up thusly:

Seat 1: Bernard Lee - 401,000
Seat 2: Dave "Doc" Sands - 1,360,000
Seat 3: James Anderson - 345,000
Seat 4: Anthony Hartmann - 194,000
Seat 5: Shannon Shorr - 905,000
Seat 6: Mark Owens - 270,000
Seat 7: Curt Kohlberg - 863,000
Seat 8: Gabe Patgorski - 2,263,000
Seat 9: Brandon Adams - 155,000

Until tomorrow, all that's left is goodnight.
