Adams Flops a Straight

Just before the break, John Adams became involved in a hand with a flop of {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} . An under-the-gun player checked to Adams on the button and he promptly bet 1,000, which received a call. The dealer burned and turned the {3-Hearts} and again it went check, bet 2,500, and call.

When the {4-Spades} hit the river, the UTG player checked, Adams fired out 5,000, and a call ensued. Adams showed {9-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} for a flopped straight and it was enough to win the hand. He is up to around 38,000.

The Brothers Hinkle

We've spotted the Brother Hinkle, Blair and Grant, in today's field. The former is already qualified for the WSOP-C National Championship after capturing the Main Event title in Council Bluffs. No doubt big brother Grant will be looking to join him, a feat he can accomplish by taking down this tournament.

National Championship Qualifiers

Today's Main Event is the culmination of more than a week's worth of events. The winner of this event, along with the player who earns the most points during the entire WSOP-Circuit stop in St. Louis, will become the two newest qualifiers for the National Championship $1 Million Freeroll that will take place at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from May 27 to 29, 2011, and will be televised nationally on the Versus network. Thus far, 48 spots have been locked up for the National Championship. Here is a look at those who have already qualified and how they got there.

We didn't catch the hand, but the seat formerly occupied by Poker Hall of Famer T.J. Cloutier is now empty of both a player and chips. That can only mean one thing . . . he has been eliminated from the WSOP-C Harrah's Tunica Main Event.

Good Call for Souza

Four players saw a flop of {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} and Mike Souza check-called a 500 bet from one of his opponents. It was heads up to the {5-Hearts} turn, and once again Souza check-called a bet of 500. When the {3-} hit the river, Souza check-called a bet of 1,000 and showed {K-} {10-} , which was ahead of his opponent's {K-} {7-} . Souza is sitting with roughly 22,000.
