Day 3 Started

We Are Ready For Day 2!

Good afternoon and welcome back to our coverage of the WSOP Circuit Main Event here at Caesers Palace in beautiful Las Vegas! Over the past two days, over 600 players have ponied up the $1,600 entry fee for this tournament, and of those, only 133 are coming back today. Leading the way is Jeff Fielder, who bagged 437,500 chips last night. He is followed by the Day 1a chip leader Joe Kuether, who bagged 380,500 chips.

Play is scheduled to get back underway in just about 30 minutes, and the plan today is to play either twelve hours, or to play down to a final table, whichever comes first.

While a majority of the players are unknowns, we still have a handful of top notch professionals, including Jeff Madsen, Gavin Griffin, Sean Getzwiller, Dutch Boyd, Kathy Liebert, Williams Reynolds, James Carroll, and Scott Clements, who will be playing at the feature table today.

The players are slowly making their way in now, and we are eagerly anticipating the restart of the tournament. Be sure to stay tuned all day here at PokerNews, as we will be providing constant coverage for the next twelve hours!

Madsen Takes An Early Hit

Action folded around to James Peera, who raised it up to 8,000. From the button, Jeff Madsen reraised to 22,500 total. The blinds folded, and it was back around to Peera, who announced all in for 52,000 even. Madsen threw in the call, and when the cards were tabled, he saw that he was well behind.

Peera: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Madsen: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Peera would need to dodge an eight to survive, and he did so on the flop, which came {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}. The turn may have brought a momentary scare, coming the {10-Hearts}, but it was still safe for Peera. The river came the {3-Hearts}, and he survived, taking 50,000 from Madsen in the process.

Eights Back to Back for Collins Sends Him Home

Robert Hampton was all in preflop holding {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} against the {8-}{8-} of Francis Collins. The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{q-Spades} to double up Hampton and cripple Collins.

A couple of hands later, the short stack Collins moved all in holding {8-}{8-} again. This time he was up against the {a-}{j-} of his opponent and was also unable to win this race.

Carroll Busts Mehta

After Sujeet Mehta raised to 6,500, James Collins three-bet him to 16,500. Mehta thought about it for a little while before moving all in and he was quickly called by Collins.

Mehta: {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Collins: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The flop was kind to Mehta when it peeled off {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and the {8-Spades} turn kept him in the lead. However, when the {a-Diamonds} hit the river, it gave each player the same two pair and Collins Jack played as a kicker.

Clements Can't Win The Race, Eliminated

Action started with Scott Davies, who raised it up to 8,000 under the gun. Everyone folded to Scott Clements, who shoved all in for around 45,000. It folded back to Davies, who snap called. The cards were flipped, and we were off to the races.

Davies: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Clements: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Clements was in front for the moment, but that changed quickly when the flop came out {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Clements would need a small miracle to survive, and he wouldn't catch it on the turn, the {2-Clubs}, or the river, the {9-Spades}. Clements said good luck to everyone, and headed for the rail.

Griffin Rockets Off To a Nice Start

We walked over to Gavin Griffin's table to see that he was heads up with his opponent on the river, with the board reading {2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. There was about 25,000 in the middle, and Griffin had laid out a bet of 18,500. His opponent thought for about 15 seconds before tossing in two red T10,000 chips for the call, then mucked when Griffin showed {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}. Griffin collected the pot, and he is now sitting on about 160,000.

Beaudoin Climbing

Although were not sure how or when the money went in, we caught Dale Beaudoin scooping a large pot and eliminating a competitor all at the same time.

Beaudoin held {k-Spades}{4-Spades} and flopped a pair of Kings and the nut flush draw on an Ace-high board. Lucky enough for Beaudoin, he got there by the turn and held the nuts through the river.
