Smith Flops a Set, Doubles

Jordan Smith and an opponent were heads up on a flop of {4-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Smith called a 2,400-chip bet, and the turn brought the {k-Clubs}. Smith's opponent checked, he fired 3,000, and the player check-raised to 9,000. Smith moved all in for 20,750.

"I got to call," the player said.

Smith: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

The {j-Hearts} bricked in the river, and Smith secured the double.

Jivkov Eliminated

Nick Jivkov, who won Event #5 $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em for $189,818 at this summer's World Series of Poker, just stopped our desk to inform us that he has been eliminated from the Main Event.

According to him, a player in middle position had raised and another player flatted. When action reached Jivkov in the big blind, he moved all in for roughly 9,000 holding {9-}{9-}. The original raiser called with {A-}{K-}, the other player folded, and an {A-} on the flop put an end to Jivkov's day.

Pwnasaurus Roars

Mario "Pwnasaurus" Silvestri opened for 1,200 under the gun only to have the player on the button three-bet to 3,500. The blinds both folded, Silvestri called, and it was heads-up action to the {8-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} flop, which both players checked.

Silvestri proceeded to check-call a bet of 5,600 on the {Q-Hearts} turn, and then checked for a third time when the {4-Diamonds} peeled off on the river. His opponent put together 10,100 and dropped it in the pot, and Silvestri snap-called with {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. It was good as the button mucked his hand.

No More "Choctaw" in Choctaw

Justin "Choctaw" Kruger
Justin "Choctaw" Kruger

We saw Justin "Choctaw" Kruger packing up his trademark green alien into his backpack, which only occurs after he's been eliminated. Sure enough, the man known as "Choctaw" exited the tournament area while Mario "Pwnasaurus" Silvestri filled us in on what happened.

According to Silvestri, Kruger was crippled after a player had raised, another limped, and then the player in Seat 9 moved all in for 10,000 with {9-}{9-}. Kruger then moved all in over the top for 13,000 or so with {A-}{J-}, and the rest of the field folded. Kruger was unable to catch, and that left him with a paltry stack, one that he lost just a few hands later.

Meanwhile, it appears both Kurt Jewell and Bobby "Shooter" Hempkins have been eliminated from the tournament.

#Nguyening

Faced with a 4,000-chip bet on a flop of {8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, Huy Nguyen raised to 8,875. Nguyen's opponent moved all in for just over 20,000, and Nguyen quickly called.

Nguyen: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The {q-Spades} turned, ending the hand, and a meaningless {5-Clubs} completed the board.

Nguyen now sits with around 60,000 chips.
