The World Series of Poker Circuit continued on Saturday with Day 1b of the Choctaw Durant Main Event, and after 17 levels of play, the chip leader was Jonathan Bakhshian, who bagged 460,000 chips.
Drazen Ilich, who finished Day 1a with 650,000 chips, will enter Day 2 as the overall chip leader.
Day 1b attracted 674 entrants, creating the third-largest field (1,140) in the history of the WSOP Circuit. The 2011 and 2012 Hammond Main Events attracted 1,615 entrants and 1,523 entrants respectively.
Only 99 players survived Day 1b, meaning Day 2 will begin with 163. The top 117 players will receive a small piece ($2,804) of the $1,710,000 prize pool, with the winner earning $312,080, the WSOP Circuit gold ring, and a seat in the Southern Comfort 100 Proof National Championship.
While Bakhshian, Jason Hall, Bobby Layne, Hien Nguyen, and Mike Davis made a late charge to the top of the counts, Kunal Patel steadily climbed the counts throughout the day.
Patel, who bagged 236,500 chips, started to climb the leader board after dinner break. He crossed the six-figure threshold when a player decided to bluff into him when he turned a flush. The blinds were 800/1,600/200 and the board was 
when Patel led out for a bet. His opponent moved all in for around 40,000, and Patel called with 
. The player sheepishly tabled 
, and a meaningless 
completed the board.
Patel later crossed the 200,000-chip threshold when he called a preflop shove in a battle of the blinds. The limits were 1,200/2,400/400 when a player open-shoved for 40,000 from the small blind. Patel tank-called with

, and Patel eliminated his opponent.
Hundreds of players failed to survive the day, including notables David Clark, Kurt Jewell, Will “Monkey” Souther, Justin “Choctaw” Kruger, Allen Kessler, Tommy Vedes, AP Phahurat, Huy Nguyen, Traci Brown, and Abraham Araya. Nguyen and Brown, who finished first and second respectively in the 2011 WSOP Circuit Choctaw Durant Main Event, both exited after the dinner break. A short-stacked Brown moved all in with on a flop of 
only to be called by Danny Logston who held

Rex Clinkscales, who leads the WSOP Circuit National Leaderboard, eliminated Nguyen. With the blinds at 1,200/2,400/400, Nguyen open-shoved his last 26,000 with

. Araya, who misfired a bullet on Day 1a as well, was eliminated, meaning there will be a new champion at Choctaw.

Henson Busts in Last Hand of Day 1b
In the last hand of the night, an unknown player in the cutoff opened and received a call from the player on the button. Ray Henson then shipped from the small blind for 60,000 or so, and David Nicholson called from the big. The original raiser folded, and then the button did the same, but not before showing

There Will Be a New Champ in Choctaw
Abraham Araya gave his best toward a title defense, but his run has come to an end here in the last four hands of the night.
Araya, who previously busted on Day 1a, shoved his last 52,000 with and received a call from a player holding . Araya got it in good, but he lost the lead when the flop fell . The turn and river sealed Araya's fate, which means there will be a new champion here in Choctaw.

On a flop of 
, Steven Vogel checked from the big blind and watched Kunal Patel bet 6,500 from the button. Vogel then woke up with a check-raise to 15,000, Patel called, and the dealer burned and turned the

Vogel kept the pressure on with a bet of 15,000, but Patel came along to see the 
river. When the peeled off on the river, Vogel bet 17,000 and this time it was enough to shake Patel, who gently tossed his cards to the dealer.

"I'm Catching Everything in the World"
We just heard Mike Davis shouting to his friends on the rail. "Look at this," he said while pointing to his stack of 360,000. "I'm catching everything in the world. Two hours ago I had 25,000, and now I have this!"
We're not sure what Davis caught to amass so many chips so fast, but he's just tossed his name into the hat for Day 1b chip leader.

"I've Got Two Unders"
Action folded around to Andy Philachack on the button and he put in a raise to 7,000. The small blind got out of the way, but the player in the big must not have been a believer as he moved all in for 40,500. Philachack asked for a count and then dropped in a call.
Philachack:

"I've got two unders," the big blind said upon seeing Philachack's cards. The big blind was drawing live, but the 
flop put a dagger through his heart as it paired Philachack. The turn gave the big blind a double-gutshot straight draw, but the river failed to complete it.
With that, Philachack is closing in on 300K.
