Valentin Vornicu won the 6-max event earlier this week for just under $11,000, and he's back at it today in the Main Event. Vornicu had more then doubled his stack when we saw him get in a tussle with Kathy Liebert.
We caught the action on the flop, which read . Liebert had bet out 600, and Vornicu raised to 1,500. Liebert called, and also called a bet of 2,500 when the hit the turn. The dealer put the on the river, and that slowed down Vornicu, who checked. Liebert sprung into action with a bet of 3,200, and that sent Vornicu into the tank.
"I had the best hand on the flop," said Vornicu. Liebert quickly shot back, saying "No you didn't". Vornicu eventually laid it down, and Liebert flashed the , then the , for flopped two pair.
Vornicu is down to 37,000 after that hand, while Liebert is back up to 21,000.

This was the question we were greeted with by Kathy Liebert as we were counting Valentin Vornicu's chip stack. Vornicu is a young part-time professional player who also works as a math teacher as well. He was quick to point out that he's not a professor, and proceeded to explain the difference between a teacher and professor.
Well Vornicu may be quitting his day job after this series. Vornicu already won a ring in the 6-max event this week, and he is off to a great start, sitting on 69,000, which is the chip lead by our estimation.

Well Joseph Kuether still has a shot to defend his title, but he will have to come back tomorrow and fire a second bullet. We didn't catch the hand that did it, but we saw this on Kuether's twitter moments ago. We will see if Kuether can fare better tomorrow.

Eric Baldwin has been above his starting stack for the entire day, and we just saw him bust a player to take a big pot and almost boost his stack to almost 60,000.
We caught up with the action three handed on a flop that read . Baldwin checked called a bet of 1,150, while the opponent between them folded. The turn brought the , which would prove to be a surprise action card. Baldwin checked once again, and his opponent bet 2,000, with one T5,000 chip behind. Baldwin dumped in 25,000 to put his opponent all in, and Baldwin was beat into the pot.

Opponent:
Baldwin's flush outs were no good, but he could still catch a seven, five, four, or three to win. The on the river brought one of those outs, and Baldwin collected the pot. After that hand, he is up to 56,000.

Dwyte Pilgrim got his start on the WSOP-Circuit, winning three rings, including this Championship event in 2009. However, he will have to wait until tomorrow to go for his 4th ring again. He has been eliminated from Day 1a.
