We heard rumblings of a "suck and re-suck" situation over on Table 53, so we headed over to check out what happened. According to Shane Campbell, who won the pot in question, Michael "Carwash" Schneider opened to 525, and Campbell called.
The dealer fanned , Schneider continued, Campbell raised, and Schneider moved all in. Campbell instantly called with two fours for a set, and Schneider showed two kings for an overpair.
The turn was a king, giving Carwash a set of kings and the lead, but the case spiked on the river, and he was suddenly eliminated.
Campbell, despite winning this crazy hand, is still near the starting stack of 20,000 chips.
A quick update on a couple of North Carolina-based pros, Ken Aldridge and Chris Bell. Both are back today after having failed to survive yesterday's Day 1a, but both have struggled somewhat during today's second flight.
Aldridge dipped below the starting stack early on, and was hovering at around 10,000 when he just got involved in a small hand in which he and an opponent made it to the river on a board. Aldridge tabled , and it was good enough as his opponent mucked.
Meanwhile, Bell just recently lost a big pot to drop from around the starting stack of 20,000 all of the way to about 4,000, and now he's patiently waiting for a spot to try to improve upon what has become a stack of about a dozen big blinds.
DJ MacKinnon is back again for Day 1b after not making it through yesterday. He chipped up some during the first six levels, and at the start of Level 7 was opening for 900 from under the gun. It folded around to the player sitting behind the button who made it 2,000 to go. The blinds got out, and MacKinnon called.
The flop came , and MacKinnon checked. His opponent quickly fired a bet of 2,000, and after a bit of thinking MacKinnon let his hand go.
Ryan Clark, who's dressed like Woody from Toy Story meets Kanye West, led out for 8,000 on a board of . Jovie Onarosa called on his direct left, and a third player called.
The river was the , and Clark quickly led out for 15,500. Onarosa unhappily mucked, and the animated hip-hop cowboy raked in the pot.
A player opened from early position, and two players called including Ken "Teach" Aldridge in the small blind. The flop fell , and both blinds checked. The original raiser continued for 2,000, and only Aldridge called.
The turn was the , Aldridge checked again, and the player quickly fired 4,000. Aldridge immediately called.
The river was a repeat three - the - and Aldridge led for the first time, committing 8,500 of his 9,400-chip stack. The player studied the board, sat quietly for 20 seconds or so, then called. Aldridge revealed for a full house.
The player slammed both fists onto the felt in anger, and then showed for a turned flush.
Jeff Williams continues to add to his stack. Just now he opened for 900 from the cutoff and got two callers from the blinds, and the trio watched the flop come . It checked to Williams who continued for 1,500, and only the small blind stuck around.
The turn brought the and a check from Williams's opponent, and when "yellowsub86" made another bet his opponent thought for some time before letting his hand go.
