Jewell Bluffs Pecaski

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

After the cutoff had opened with a standard raise and at-large qualifier David Pecaski called from the button, Kurt Jewell three-bet from the small blind. The original raiser folded, Pecaski called and the flop came down {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}.

Pecaski called a sizable bet from Jewell, and then the dealer burned and turned the {9-Clubs}. Jewell bet again but this time Pecaski raise to 11,300. Not to be outdone Jewell shoved all in for 25,650. Pecaski thought long and hard before folding, and he must have regretted it when Jewell flipped over the {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}!

Glantz Done in by Nitsche

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Matt Glantz
Matt Glantz

After Cord Garcia opened, a short-stacked Matt Glantz moved all in for 4,675. When action reach World Series of Poker bracelet winner Dominik Nitsche in the big blind, he moved all in over the top and drove out Garcia.

Glantz: {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Nitsche: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

It was a bad spot for Glantz and according to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, he had just a 17.92% chance of surviving the hand while Nitsche was an 81.54% favorite. The {j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop was no help to Glantz and dropped his chances to 8.38%. The {9-Clubs} turn dropped it even further to 4.55%, but it also made a 9.09% chance of there being a chop. Unfortunately for Glantz, the {J-Clubs} blanked on the river and he was bounced from the tournament.

A Really Annoying Double

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Allen Kessler opened for a raise on the button, Jason Koon three-bet all in for 16,100 from the big blind, and Kessler made the call.

Kessler: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Koon: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

"You're three-betting everything there," Kessler sighed. "That's really annoying."

Koon held as the board ran out {2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, doubling back to the starting stack. Kessler plummeted to 11,000 chips.

Julius Straightens Out Massey

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Aaron Massey
Aaron Massey

We saw Kyle Julius sitting with a mountain of chips and the seat formerly occupied by Aaron Massey was empty. A quick check with Julius and he confirmed that he'd done the deed.

According to him it happened after Massey opened for 625, Josh Reichard three-bet to 1,500 and Julius four-bet to 2,600. Massey then five-bet to 5,100, Reichard folded and Julius called, bringing about a {5-}{7-}{9-} flop. Long story short, Julius held the {6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Massey had {A-}{A-}. The money actually got in on the turn, and after the river was run out, a dejected Massey took his leave from the 2013 Southern Comfort 100 Proof National Championship.

Nitsche Makes a Straight

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

David Tuthill checked on a flop of {4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. Dominik Nitsche fired out 3,300, and Tuthill made the call.

The turn was the {5-Spades}, both players checked, and the river was the {7-Diamonds}. The pair checked again.

Tuthill showed {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for a pair of kings, but it was no good against Nitsche's {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a rivered straight.
