Polo Santoni & Paul
Polo Santoni & Paul

Vladimir Shabalin raised to 135,000 from the cutoff, Paul shoved all in from the small blind and so did Polo Santoni. Shabalin looked at his cards once more and then folded them. Santoni had the shorter stack with 725,000.

Paul: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Polo Santoni: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

The window card was the {K-Diamonds} but then the rest of the flop became visible: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} to give Paul quad nines and Santoni needed the last king to survive in the tournament. The turn brought them the {7-Diamonds} and Paul shook the hand of Santoni even though the king on the river could change the whole outcome. The river completed the board with the {J-Diamonds}. Not the king Santoni wanted and he was eliminated after about 3 hours of 8-handed play and only ten minutes after the dinner break had finished. The French have lost another man in the battle to bring the title back to France.

TMV Eliminated in 7th Place (213,000 MAD)

TMV

Rony Halimi raised to 150,000 from mid-position and action folded to TMV in the big blind, who shoved for 750,000 in total. Halimi tanked for about two minutes. TMV called the clock and the floor immediately said that Halimi had not had enough time. After another minute or so, and some mumbling to himself while looking at his own chip stack, Halimi called.

Rony Halimi: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
TMV: {A-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The flop came {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{K-Hearts} giving TMV top pair and Halimi middle pair. The turn brought them the {q-Clubs}, this now gave Halimi trip queens, TMV needed a king to double up or a ten to split the pot. The river completed the board with the {7-Spades} on which Halimi's rail cheered loudly. And Halimi screamed: VAMOS!"

TMV was sent to the payout desk to collect his 213,000 MAD (€18,739). Another Spanish cannon has left the field, now only Paul and NFJM are left to try and win the war.

Jhider Doubles Through Nasser

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Joseph Nasser raised to 150,000 from the cutoff and was called by Mohamed Jhider in the big blind.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, Jhider checked, Nassar bet 200,000 and Jhider shoved for 1,105,000. Nassar called.

Mohamed Jhider: {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Joseph Nassar: {A-Spades}{10-Spades}

Nassar had flopped top pair with the ace-kicker and Jhider flopped the same top pair but with a lower kicker. But he also had a flush draw.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} and the {3-Diamonds} on the river completed the board and Jhider's flush draw for the double up. This left Nassar with about a million.

Shabalin Makes Little Mistake; Still Wins Without Showdown

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Paul raised to 125,000 from the hijack and action folded to Vladimir Shabalin in the big blind.

"Never fold against you! You can't steal my big blind!" Shabalin said to Paul. Paul just smiled.

Shabalin grabbed chips as a call and put them in, the dark green 25,000-value chips and the 100,000-value blue-ish chip are very similar so he put in 200,000 instead of 125,000 for the call. The dealer said it was a raise. Vladimir then realized his mistake but it was too late.

Paul four-bet to 600,000 and Shabalin snap-five-bet shoved with the bigger stack. Paul insta-folded.

Vladimir Shabalin raised to 135,000 from the under-the-gun position and was called by Rony Halimi in the big blind.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}, Halimi check-called the 140,000 bet of Shabalin.

The turn brought them the {J-Hearts}, now Halimi check-called the 225,000 bet of Shabalin.

The river completed the board with the {6-Clubs} and they both checked. Halimi showed {A-Hearts}{q-Spades} for top pair and Shabalin tabled {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the turned two pair of jacks and nines.
