The PokerNews live reporting team is currently in North Carolina to live report the Main Event here at the World Series of Poker Circuit Harrah’s Cherokee, but that is just one of the gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

In Event #12: $400 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo, 438 runners created a $144,540 prize pool that was paid out to the top 67 spots. Among those to make deep runs were Kataka Eaton (10th - $2,145), Eric Yim (14th - $1,753), Kim Chavis (19th - $1,225), Geoff Haas (28th - $808), and Brian Moon (36th - $665).

In the end, 33-year-old Atlanta copywriter Jaeyoung Wi beat Jeff Riberdy in heads-up play to win the title for $29,755 and his first gold ring.

“It feels like it’s been a long time coming,” said Wi. “I got lucky in some spots and played well in some spots – it felt natural.”

He added: “It feels good to see that everything’s been kind of paying off … I just to keep things fresh. I dabble in watching it (poker) on YouTube and stuff, but mostly playing with friends.”
