Martin Kozlov
Martin Kozlov

It is time for the third and final Day 3 of the World Series of Poker Circuit Cherokee $1,700 Main Event! This prestigious circuit stop will culminate today with conclusion of this event when a champion will be crowned and awarded the grand prize payout of $271,234

The remaining 20 players are a noteworthy blend of experience and new blood on the live tournament poker scene to create what will be an interesting final day.

Among the experienced players are Maurice Hawkins and Martin Kozlov who the two most accomplished players remaining by some distance. Hawkins is the most decorated WSOPc grinder of all time, with 13 circuit rings, including the 2016 main event ring right here in Cherokee, which to date is his best tournament cash. He will be looking to add ring #14 and come close to his greatest live cash with this score. Kozlov has over 3 million in tournament earnings, including a WSOP bracelet. The Australian stands out amongst the remaining field as the only non-American left and has much more international and high stakes poker experience than his counterparts.

Offset by these two experienced well known players, are some completely fresh faces, including Thomas Alcorn who emerged as the chip leader late last night with 3,280,000 in chips. Alcorn has only two cashes on his record, both from five years ago. Another fairly new player to the scene is Joshua Martin, who has hit the ground running with a victory already at this circuit stop with the ring victory in Event 7: $400 Monster Stack. He is looking to make it an unforgettable run with a victory in the main event and win two rings in a week.

Caught in between the juxtaposition of big experience and newness of those four headline players are some who fall in the middle.

On the more experienced side are a few players including; Asher Conniff who is the third most accomplished player remaining with over two million in career earnings. Brad Albrinck with over a million in career earnings, including two circuit rings one of which came in Cherokee in 2016. Robert Georato also has over a million in career earnings and a couple of circuit rings. Dann Turner is second in chips and has over $600,000 in earnings. Randy Lowery has close to a million in career earnings and could surpass that barrier with a victory today.Jonathan Hanner also has over half a million in career earnings.

A few of those on have some poker acumen and are looking to add more to boost themselves into the more experienced camp include; Scott Born, Billy Cashwell, Forest Raleigh, Steven Grybas and Srinivasa Vadlamudi. While Wayne Whittinghill looks to burst onto the scene as this is only his second cash ever and is by far his largest already.

All 20 remaining players hit the felt at noon local time and will pay down to a winner. The blinds will resume on level 27 at 25,000/50,000 with a 50,000 big blind ante. There will be a new redraw at 18 players and for the final table of nine players. The levels will continue to be 60 minutes in length with a 15-minute break after every two levels.

PokerNews will be on hand to report everything that happens and bring you coverage all the way down until a winner is determined.

Steven Grybas

Steven Grybas moved all in from early position with his short stack. He was called by Shawn McClanahan and everyone else folded.

Grybas's tournament life was at stake with {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} against the {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} of McClanahan. The flop sent McClanahan into the lead as it came {6-Spades}{q-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. The turn {7-Diamonds} and the river {7-Spades} did nothing to save Grybas and he was eliminated in 18th place.

On a flop of {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, Rodney Seymour shoved all in and was snap-called by Brandon Livengood.

Brandon Livengood: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Rodney Seymour: {q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Seymour wanted to see clubs, the turn was not one as it came the {k-Spades} but the river was as the {10-Clubs} came off to give Seymour the winning flush and give Livengood a no good set to end his tournament in 17th place.

Coming back from the break, Maurice Hawkins shoved all in for a little over 500,000 from the hijack. Dann Turner called from the cutoff and the rest of the table folded.

Dann Turner: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Maurice Hawkins: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}

Hawkins was cheering for a three but the flop of {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} was alright for his hand too. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn was also safe for Hawkins but the {q-Spades} on the river was not. Turner paired his queen and Hawkins hit the rail in 16th place.

Joshua Martin was down to around six big blinds and pushed all in for 650,000 in early position. The action folded around to Jonathan Hanner in the big blind who quickly called after looking at his cards.

Jonathan Hanner: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Joshua Martin: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Martin was in danger of being eliminated. The {q-Clubs} on the turn gave Hanner a set of queens and Martin was drawing dead to the {7-Diamonds} on the river.

"Give me my cash-out receipt!" Martin started yelling before the river card even hit the felt.

Wayne Whittinghill

The action folded to Dinh Ba on the button who made a large raise to 450,000. Wayne Whittinghill shipped all in for 850,000 in the small blind and Ba said he was pot committed already as he made the call.

Dinh Ba: {10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Wayne Whittinghill: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The flop of {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{6-Clubs} left Whittinghill in the lead with his pair of sevens. The {6-Diamonds} on the turn changed nothing but the {10-Spades} on the river was exactly what Ba needed. Whittinghill was eliminated and the unofficial final table will now redraw for seats.

Billy Cashwell raised to 325,000 from early position. It folded around to Dinh Ba in the big blind who three-bet to 1,120,000. Cashwell hesitated a moment before four-betting all in, which Ba quickly called after a couple of seconds.

Dinh Ba: {8-}{8-}
Billy Cashwell: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The flop came down {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. The turn opened up a straight draw with the {9-Spades} but the {9-Hearts} on the river kept the kings afloat and Ba was taken out in 10th place.
