"Sir, I Was Trying to Knock You Out"

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 120,000 ante
Dann Turner
Dann Turner

James Garst came into the day with just eight big blinds and was saying on the break, "I don't know how I'm still in".

He's managed to outlast some of the chip leaders from the start of the day and just found some new life again.

Garst was all in for 124,000 in early position and Dann Turner had plenty of calling chips from the big blind. Garst tabled {a-Spades}{10-Hearts} which was slightly ahead of Turner's {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. The board ran out {q-}{9-}{8-}{5-}{k-} and Garst's ace-high held on for the double up.

"I appreciate it," Garst said as he collected the pot.

"Sir, I was trying to knock you out," Turner responded.

Alcorn Uses Big Raise

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 120,000 ante

On the river the board read {2-Spades}{j-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. The first player to act made a small min bet of 12,000 to which Thomas Alcorn made a huge raise to 100,000. His opponent thought for a while before making the call. Alcorn showed the {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and gathered the nice boon to his stack via the raise.

Martin Kozlov (from Day 1)
Martin Kozlov (from Day 1)

Martin Kozlov moved his opponents out of hands with raises on the flop on two hands within a few minutes of one another.

In the second hand, his opponent bet 32,000 on a flop that read {9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. Kozlov tossed out some green chips for a raised to 125,000 which got a quick fold from the original bettor to give Kozlov more momentum.

Hawkins Eliminates Millroy In Largest Pot of the Tournament

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Maurice Hawkins
Maurice Hawkins

The action folded to Maurice Hawkins who raised it up on the button. Todd Millroy three-bet to 106,000 in the big blind and Hawkins replied with a four-bet. Millroy tanked for a minute and then five-bet shoved all in for 746,000. Hawkins snapped him off and the cards were on their backs.

Maurice Hawkins: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Todd Millroy: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Hawkins let out a deep breath with the nine coming so close on the river. Hawkins barely had Millroy covered in what was the largest pot of the tournament thus far.

Wilkerson Flops Top Set in Monster Pot

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Kobie Wilkerson
Kobie Wilkerson

Kobie Wilkerson opened to 42,000 on the button and informed Ryan Eriquezzo who was in the big blind that it was not just a button raise. Eriquezzo disregarded the information and three-bet to 135,000. Wilkerson called and the flop came {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

Eriquezzo slid out bet of 165,000 and Wilkerson raised to around 350,000. Eriquezzo quickly moved all in for 668,000 and Wilkerson snap-called.

Kobie Wilkerson: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Ryan Eriquezzo: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Wilkerson out-flopped Eriquezzo by spiking a set of jacks and was in line for a monster pot. The {a-Hearts} and {8-Hearts} didn't change anything which sent Eriquezzo to the payout desk and put Wilkerson on the top of the leaderboard.

Whittinghill Spikes the Turn

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Robert Georato opened to 40,000 in early position and Wayne Whittinghill three-bet to 150,000 in the cutoff. The small blind four-bet shoved all in for 220,000 and the action folded back to Whittinghill who quickly called.

Wayne Whittinghill: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Whittinghill was up against it when the cards were tabled but the {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop gave him some outs to work with. The {j-Clubs} on the turn was one of those outs to give Whittinghill a set of jacks and he held on through the {a-Hearts} on the river.
