Murray's Tourney Shot Down By Steinman's Bullets

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Brett Murray
Brett Murray

"All in," said the dealer as Brett Murray shoved his last 60,000 or so in from the button. Moments later, Ian Steinman was sliding a stack of T5,000 chips forward to reraise. The two tabled their hands upon a fold out of the big blind.

Brett Murray: {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Ian Steinman: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}

Murray's shove had run into Steinman's aces and he now found himself in need of significant improvement in order to stay alive. The flop {q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} was of little help, but the turn {j-Hearts} did give Murray some life. Unfortunately for him, the river {8-Diamonds} would be the last card of his tournament life as his jacks were no good to Steinman's aces, resulting in his elimination from the tournament.

"Nice hand, dirtbag!" Murray said to Steinman with a smile on his face, having already stood up from his eight-seat at the table to walk behind the dealer over to Steinman in the one-seat in order to give him a fist bump.

Steinman reciprocated the smile and the fist bump.

"Did I play it well?" he asked Murray as the two shared a laugh. Meanwhile, Steinman had lost some chips since the break and has now gained them back, finding himself as the chip leader with 10 players left in the tournament.

Garrett Forces River Fold

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

There was 22,000 in the pot on the river with a board of {3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Ian Steinman had bet 12,000 from the small blind into Russell Garrett, who was in the big blind. Garrett shoved all in over the top for about 65,000 and Steinman was in the tank. He eventually motioned to fold.

Upon doing so, he knocked over a stack of chips and in order to remove all doubt, quickly verbalized a fold long before any falling chip hit the felt. The table paused for a moment, and the dealer calmly reached over around the pile of chips to take Steinman's cards from in front of him in the one-seat and slide them over to the muck.

The chaotic verbalized fold sounded somewhat like a "whoa!" and Kelly Minkin stated she thought that's what Steinman had said, asking what transpired in the situation as she didn't hear the word fold but knew he hadn't called. The dealer and Steinman both confirmed the word "fold" was said as some laughter ensued.

"I had two kings. I probably should've called," said Steinman as Garrett raked in the pot and the dealer began to pitch the cards for the next hand.

Miller Doubles Through Rodriguez

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Bryant Miller
Bryant Miller

Ryan Awwad opened to 11,500 from the button and Noel Rodriguez went all in over the top of him from the small blind, effectively putting both Awwad and big blind Bryant Miller to decisions for their tournament lives.

Miller decided his hand was good enough to go for the double and called, prompting a fold from Awwad.

Bryant Miller: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Noel Rodriguez: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} to give Rodriguez a flush draw as well as backdoor outs to Broadway. The turn {7-Clubs} took away those backdoor outs and the river {3-Spades} left him with zero percent equity in the hand, securing the double for Miller along the way.

Cowboys Kind To Jha

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Mrityunjay Jha
Mrityunjay Jha

Mike Lancaster shoved all in from the hijack and was called by Mrityunjay Jha out of the cutoff, who was covered by Lancaster and at risk for his tournament life.

Mrityunjay Jha: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Mike Lancaster: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The board ran out safe for Jha, coming {10-Spades}{5-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} to score the double at Lancaster's expense. Jha now finds himself back over six figures in chips, while Lancaster is now one of the shortest stacks in the tournament.

Jha Trending Upward

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Mrityunjay Jha saw action folded to him and limped in from the button. He went heads up to a flop of {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} with Noel Rodriguez, who checked his option from the big blind. Both players checked.

The turn came {k-Spades} and Rodriguez checked again. Jha bet 7,000 and received a call from Rodriguez. The river fell {j-Hearts} and Rodriguez check-called a final bet of 11,000 from Jha.

Upon being called, Jha tabled {q-Hearts}{j-Spades} for kings full of jacks. Rodriguez mucked and the dealer sent the pot Jha's way.

Lancaster Next To Fall

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Mike Lancaster
Mike Lancaster

Mrityunjay Jha opened to 11,000 from the hijack and received a call from Bryant Miller, who was in the small blind. Mike Lancaster was in the big blind and squeezed, reshoving all in for the last of his chips. Jha folded and Miller called.

Mike Lancaster: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Bryant Miller: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

Lancaster was in need of spiking an ace or a jack in order to score a double and make his way back into contention. He was unable to improve beyond Miller's nines upon the completion of the runout {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades}{5-Clubs}, resulting in his departure from the tournament in 10th place.

Players are in the process of redrawing for an unofficial final table of nine, with only two more eliminations needed before play reaches the money. An updated seat draw and list of chip counts will be provided shortly.
