Quads Over Full House for Sumpter

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante
Robert Sumpter
Robert Sumpter

A three-way, four-bet pot preflop put about 30,000 chips in the middle, and the flop came {10-Spades}{q-Spades}{a-Diamonds}.

Robert Sumpter, in the big blind, went all in, and got calls from both an early position opponent, as well as the hijack.

Both Sumpter and the early position player saw the bad news when the cards turned over.

Robert Sumpter: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Early Position: {a-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Hijack: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

The turn changed nothing, with the {9-Spades} coming in. The river {10-Clubs}, however, brought in quad tens for Sumpter, sending the early position player to the rail, and leaving the hijack stunned with his set of aces unable to hold.

Kweskin Takes it Down on the River

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante
Aaron Kweskin
Aaron Kweskin

Three players put in 3,000 each before the flop came {5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. The small blind led out for 3,500, Aaron Kweskin called from middle position and so did the cutoff.

The {3-Spades} came on the turn and the small blind bet again, this time 5,000. Kweskin called and the cutoff put in a raise to 12,000. The small blind folded and Kweskin called.

The {4-Spades} completed the board and Kweskin led out for 15,000. The player in the cutoff thought about it for some time before tossing his cards into the muck and saying he folded a set.

Kweskin now sits near the top of the chip counts.

Kim's Aggressive Line Gets it Done

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante

Facing an under-the-gun open to 800 and a button call, Richard Kim three-bet to 3,200 from the big blind. Both opponents called.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, and Kim asked for a count on the under-the-gun player's stack. Kim immediately went all in after that, pushing his remaining 30,000 in the middle.

Both opponents folded, and Kim collected the chips.

PokerNews is in town to live report both the Main Event and High Roller here at the World Series of Poker Circuit Bicycle Casino, but those are just two of the gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

In Event #3: $250 No-Limit Hold’em, 230 entrants created a $50,000 prize pool that was paid out to the top 35 players. Among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Kerick Fuentes (10th - $825), Buddy Young (17th - $595), and Eric Gamoning (25th - $435), just to name a few.

In the end, 33-year-old respiratory therapist Kristian Fabros beat Fred Lin in heads-up play to win the title for $11,550 and his first gold ring.

“Yeah, actually this tournament was a pretty good tournament overall because all the tables were nice. It was like a friendly, competitive game,” said Fabros, who traveled up with some friends.

“They did the World Series in Vegas this past year, so they’ve been talking about what a good experience that was. They brought it up yesterday to do the WSOP here. So then, I decided this morning to go and I’m glad I did.”

He added: “Now that I won this one, I’ll probably be back for a few of the other ones. I know I want to do one of the $400 ones.”

Ostapchenko Turns Two Pair

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

Five players limped in and saw a flop of {k-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Action checked to the cutoff and he fired in a bet of 1,000. Andrew Ostapchenko was next to act on the button and raised to 3,000. The rest of the players got out of the way and they went heads up to a turn card.

The {9-Hearts} fell on the turn and Ostapchenko bet 5,000 when the action checked to him. The player in the cutoff check-shoved for his last 17,500 and Ostapchenko quickly called.

Andrew Ostapchenko: {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}

Ostapchenko was in the lead and took down the pot after the brick {5-Hearts} river completed the board.

Peter Zheng

With {5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} on the board, Sean Jazayeri bet 2,500 from early position, and Peter Zheng caled from the button.

The river fell {k-Hearts}, Jazayeri bet 6,000, and Zheng raised all in for his last 8,700. Jazayeri called, and both players turned over sets, with Zheng's {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} getting the best of Jazayeri's {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}.
