While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the $1,700 Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Harveys Lake Tahoe.
In Event #3: $400 No-Limit Hold’em, 401 runners created a $132,330 prize pool. Among those to finish in the top 58 and get paid were Colton Blomberg (14th - $2,704), Jerod Smith (33rd - $845), and Max Young (43rd - $656), just to name a few.
In the end, Adam Owen defended his title from one year ago by defeating poker pro Dan O’Brien in heads-up play, good for $22,380 and his second gold ring. Owen bagged a big stack on Day 1 and went wire-to-wire on his way to victory.
“I just had the best hand a lot,” said Owen. “The guys on my left were pretty aggressive – they made it pretty tough. I was just winning all-ins basically.”
He added: “It feels very cool. The trophy is always up top as well as the money, so you’re always cheering for first place. It does feel nice to win stuff and have your friends watching.”
