Udornpim Continues to Run Well

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

Nitis Udornpim is having a career year and is showing no sign of slowing down here today as he is already off to another hot start.

The board read {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and there was about 20,000 in the pot. Udornpim bet 16,000 and Ian Davis hit the tank. Ultimately Davis folded and Udornpim took down the pot, adding a healthy-sized pot to his stack.

Wang's Shove Gets Through

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante

The player on the cutoff raised to 1,000 and the player on the button. Michael Wang three-bet to 3,300 from the big blind and the cutoff and the button stuck around with a call.

The dealer fanned a flop of {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Wang moved all in for 23,000. Both of his opponents let it go.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at the Horseshoe Baltimore to live report both the $1,700 Main Event and $3,250 High Roller; however, that is just one of more than a dozen gold ring events that have taken place over the past week. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

In Event #3: $400 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo, 51 runners created a $16,830 prize pool that was paid out to the top eight players.

In the end, 25-year-old software engineer Shizhe Zhou of Rockwell, Maryland came out on top to win the title, a $5,853 top prize, and his first gold ring. All that in his first tournament at the Horseshoe Baltimore.

Zhou, who graduated from Stevens College in New Jersey, is originally from China.

Boker Wins One With No Showdown

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante
Torsten Boker
Torsten Boker

Torsten Boker raised to 1,100 from middle position and the player in the big blind was the only caller.

The flop fell {a-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} and the player in the big blind checked. Boker bet 1,100 and his opponent check-called.

The dealer burned and turned the {9-Hearts} and both players checked it to the {q-Diamonds} river. The player in the big blind fired 2,600 and Boker took a few seconds of reflection, then called. His opponent directly mucked his hand and Boker raked in the pot.

Davis Finds a Monster of a Fold from Gorsuch

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante

John Gorsuch opened from late position and Ian Davis three-bet to 7,000 from the small blind. Gorsuch called and the dealer spread out {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Spades} on the flop.

Davis bet 4,500 and Gorsuch quickly bumped it up to 10,000. Davis moved Gorsuch all-in for his remaining 19,900 and Gorsuch hit the tank.

"I know where I'm at," said Gorsuch as he threw his hand into the muck face up, showing {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for a set of nines. Davis looked stunned as he slowly pulled in the pot.
