In Event #9: $400 Monster Stack, 617 entrants created a $203,610 prize pool that was paid out to the top 93 players. Among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Shawn Nelson (10th - $2,960), Longsheng Tan (23rd - $1,405), Jamie Kerstetter (34th - $823), Chris Horvath (46th - $684), and Albert Ng (70th - $602).
In the end, Jeffrey Gotts, a 57-year-old video engineer, bested Justin Keener in heads-up play to win the title for $38,328 and his first gold ring.
“I haven’t played live in over a year. I usually play Sundays online, but it usually gets in the way of plans,” Gotts said after the win. “I have a Run It Once subscription, and I play with some of the poker software that’s out there.”
