The second of two initial starting flights of the 2019 World Series of Poker Circuit Planet Hollywood $1,700 Main Event is set to begin at noon local time. Yesterday's flight attracted 338 entries players but only 65 of them found a bag. Today, a bigger field is expected to turn out for their final shot at advancing to Day 2.

Tim McDermott bagged the chip lead of Day 1a with a stack of 392,000. He is followed by Sohale Khalili (382,000) and David Towson (357,000). Today, another group of players will try to challenge this mark.

There will be a 15-minute break every three levels and a 60-minute dinner break at the completion of Level 9. Players will be allowed one re-entry should they find themselves eliminated, with late registration remaining open until the beginning of Level 13. Day 1 will play through fifteen levels or 12% of the field, whichever comes first.

The survivors of Day 1b will combine with the survivors of Day 1a for Day 2 on Monday November 25th at noon local time.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for updates as the day unfolds.

Gabay Fills Up, Doubles Up

Level 4 : 100/200, 200 ante
Haim Gabay
Haim Gabay

Haim Gabay bet 9,000 into an 18,000 pot from the small blind, with {6-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Spades}{a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} on the board.

His opponent in the hijack raised all in, which would have put the rest of Gabay's remaining 15,900 chips in if Gabay called.

Gabay showed immediate frustration when the raise was made, and tanked for several moments.

"If you have pocket aces you're good," said Gabay, right before making the call. The opponent tabled {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for trip kings, but it was no good against Gabay's {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} for kings full.

The pot doubled Gabay up to 63,000, while leaving the hijack with just 4,000 chips.
