New Faces Lead Field of 242 on Loaded Day 2 of WSOPC Tampa Main Event

David Tuthill
David Tuthill

It is time for Day 2 of the WSOP Circuit Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Main Event to kick off at 12 p.m. Returning to battle on the felt will be 242 players who still remain. The top 175 will make the money, meaning that a little more than ¼ of the field still has to be trimmed before a payday can be reached.

Some of the players who will be looking to make it much deeper than the min cash are those at the top of the chip counts to start the day. A newcomer to the scene starts the day on top, as Isaac Kempton will be the start of day chip leader after bagging 500,000 on Day 1a. Kempton does not have a recorded cash on his poker resume thus far and will be looking to make a huge splash for his first one here in Tampa.

Another newcomer, Orville Story will be right on Kempton’s heels as the Day 1b chip leader brings 498,000 with him to the table today. Story has one modest cash on his poker resume so far and just like Kempton will be looking to spin his Day 1 success into a big result here today.

The top two chip counts are both good for about 125 big blinds at the start of the day level 16 blind level of 2,000/4,000. There is a drop off in chips after the top two as Aaron Gunn holds 474,000 in third place. David Tuthill is right behind that with 473,500 and Tyler Phillips rounds out the top five with 385,000.

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Constantinos Psallidas
Constantinos Psallidas

The flop read {6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} with an already substantial pot in the middle. Richard Braun bet 100,000 which was called by Constantinos Psallidas.

They two players went to the turn which came the {5-Hearts}. Braun moved all in and Psallidas almost beat him into the middle with the speed of the call and showed why as he turned over the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} for the nut flush while Braun turned over his spoiled {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

The {10-Clubs} on the river was a mere formality and Psallidas brought it a massive pot to throw him toward the top.
