$1,700 Main Event
Day 1a Started
After nearly two weeks of preliminary events here at Horseshoe Hammond, it's Main Event time for a host of the Midwest's finest, some of the countries top pros, and even some International stars, all vying to be the champion of the WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond $1,700 Main Event.
In October of last year, 1,063 players hit the felt for the Main Event, and Ravi Raghavan bested Michael Wolff heads-up to take home $272,322, his second WSOP Circuit ring, and a seat in the 2020 Global Casino Championship. Elik Vodovoz won his first WSOP Circuit ring here last March by topping a field of 1,050 players, including beating Derek Hanauer heads up, to earn $294,290. Another massive field is expected for this rendition of the Main Event, which includes a whopping $1 million guaranteed prize pool.
Players will receive 30,000 in chips for the Main Event, and the blinds kick off at 100/100. Both Day 1 flights feature 40 minute levels throughout, and the field is scheduled to play 15 levels today, bagging up for the night at the conclusion of the 1,500/3,000/3,000 level. Registration and a single re-entry option is available for players up until Level 13 (roughly 9:45 p.m.), and a second and final starting flight is available on Saturday, February 29th at Noon for players looking to advance. All players who find a bag will return at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 1st and play ten one-hour levels, and the final day of play is scheduled for Monday, March 2nd at Noon.
A talented field of players is scheduled to descend on the convention center here at Horseshoe Hammond, including the aforementioned defending champ Raghavan, Mike Shin, WSOP Bracelet winner Alex Ziskin, and Todd Sladek, to name a few. Stay tuned to PokerNews all weekend long for live coverage, photos, and all the action from both the Main Event and the $2,200 High Roller event that kicks off on Sunday, March 1st at 5:00 p.m. local time.
