The opening day flights of the WSOP Circuit Thunder Valley $1,700 Main Event are complete, and after Day 1a and Day 1b 100 players remain. Those players will come back as a combined field Sunday for Day 2, which begins at noon from the Thunder Valley Resort in Lincoln, California.

The event drew 306 entries on Day 1b, and 487 total for the event. Of the 306 Day 1b entries, 65 made it through to play on to Day 2.

Peter Pap ended Day 1b with the biggest stack in the room, putting 383,000 chips in the bag at the completion of play. Others bagging big on Day 1b included Scott Stewart (330,500) and Mario Lopez (297,500)

Those players will come back to Sunday's Day 2 action and join Day 1 chip leaders such as Marko Pantelic (475,000) and Dann Turner (454,500).

Play will resume at Level 16 Sunday, with the blinds and antes at 2000/4000/4000. After playing through 40-minute levels for the Day 1 flights, the tournament structure will switch to 60-minute levels for the duration of the tournament.

Day 2 is scheduled to play down to a nine-handed final table, and those nine players would come back Monday for Day 3 and play down to a winner.

The total prize pool for the Main Event ended up at $737,805, with $147,706 going to the winner.

Lexy Gavin just doubled up, her pocket threes besting her opponent's {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. She's back to 22,000 after the win.

Peter Pal is up to the 155,000 chip mark, which is in the upper echelon of chip stacks as Day 1b winds down.

Andreas Kniep, who's up to 213,000, is seated at the same table as JC Tran, a late entry who's coming of a win in the $3,250 High Roller yesterday.

Haletky Adds to the Pile

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Jaime Haletky
Jaime Haletky

Jaime Haletky is up to the 270,000 mark after taking down yet another sizeable pot.

His latest win came with the board showing {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, and more than 40,000 already in the pot. Haletky put in a bet for 30,000 from the big blind, and after some consideration his opponent in early position folded.

Haletky appears to have the biggest stack in the room as Level 10 winds down.

Mo Fathipour is getting in the mix and getting involved in a hand or two in a rare playing appearance.

The Bicycle Casino Tournament Director knows seemingly everyone in the Thunder Valley poker room, and Pat Lyons in particular is thrilled that the longtime poker fixture has stepped away from his duties at the Bicycle for the weekend and entered the fray in the WSOP Circuit Thunder Vallet Main Event.

Rodriguez Calls Three-Bet and Three Barrels, Collects

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante
Noel Rodriguez
Noel Rodriguez

Noel Rodriguez opened to 600 from the cutoff, Chi Chen three-bet to 2,500 from the small blind, and Rodriguez called.

Chen continued for 2,200 on the {2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop, and Rodriguez called.

Chen bet 7,300 on the {q-Clubs} turn, and Rodriguez called again. Chen fired a third bet on the {4-Clubs} river, putting another 5,400 in the pot.

Rodriguez called again, and his {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} was best against Chen's {j-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, which looked promising on the flop but saw no draws complete.
