Day 1a Started

Welcome to Day 1a of the WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event

Es Saadi Resort
Es Saadi Resort

Welcome to the WSOP Circuit Marrakech at the luxurious Casino de Marrakech located in the heart of the luxurious Es Saadi Resort.

There is no better place for the WSOP International Circuit to kick off the new year than in the sunshine and palm trees of one of Morocco's most majestic cities.

The festival will award 10 gold rings with many other side events and satellites littering the schedule. Of course, there are cash games running around the clock as well.

Today features the first of two opening flights of the highlight of the festival, the WSOP Circuit Marrakech 15,000 (€1,400) Main Event where players start with 30,000 in chips and will be competing for 12 blind levels of 45 minutes each. Both flights allow for unlimited reentries during the first nine blind levels giving players plenty of opportunities to build a monster stack.

The structure is deeper for players that advance with 60-minute blind levels on Day 2 on Jan. 18 and 75-minute blind levels on the Final Day on Jan. 19.

Two Pair for Colantoni

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

While no players have been felted as of yet, there was one of the biggest pots of the day thus far on Table 4.

Christophe Colantoni bet 3,000 into a pot of more than 10,000 with the {2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Spades} on the board. Stephane Vucko paused for about 20 seconds before he made the call.

Colantoni turned over {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for two pair. Vucko shook his head and began to throw his hand into the muck before he showed the table he had an overpair with {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}.

Full House for Rubenstein

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Pierre Sinnig checked into a pot of around 6,000 with the {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Spades}{q-Clubs} on the board before Mody Rubenstein bet 4,500.

Sinnig made the quick call and Rubenstein immediately turned over {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a full house. Sinning shook his head before he flashed the {8-Clubs} to his opponent for a minimum of trips.
