Yao Cracks Straight With Full House; Meli Eliminated

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Bixi Yao
Bixi Yao

Bixi Yao raised to 3,200 from middle position and picked up calls from three players.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and action checked to Yao, who made it 4,000 to go. Paul Grummitt called, as did Vincent Meli. The turn was the {a-Hearts} and all three players checked.

The river was the {5-Spades} and Meli shoved all in for his remaining 24,000. Yao asked for a count and then used a time bank. She then made the call. Grummitt folded his hand to leave two players to show their cards.

Meli showed {3-Spades}{4-Spades} for the straight, a hand which looked to be unbeatable, until Yoa flipped over {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} for a full house. She scooped the pot and Meli made a hasty exit from the table.

"Ahh, the tactical time bank", said another player at the table to Yoa, clocking that she had made a bit of a Hollywood play to try to entice Grummitt to put more chips in the middle. It may not have worked, but Yoa still took a decent pot.
