Juanda's Aces are Good

Heads-up against Doyle Brunson, John Juanda bet every street but the river, showing {10-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. Both players checked the river and Juanda's aces were good enough to take down the pot.

Juanda now has 5,800 chips.

7 Down

We've counted just 7 empty seats in the tournament area; once one more player is eliminated, our first table of the day will be broken.

World Champs Exhibiting Their Aptitude

All five WSOP Main Event winners who entered are still in the field, and most are doing quite well. Here are their most recent chip counts:

Doyle Brunson: 13,650
Chris Ferguson: 6,125
Jim Bechtel: 11,500
Berry Johnston: 15,725
Greg Raymer: 16,825

Jesus Walks from One Tough Table to Another

Table 37, arguably the toughest starting table in the field (Juanda, Brunson, Ferguson, Edler), just broke.

Ferguson was moved to table 40, which is occupied by both Annie Duke and Robert Williamson III. The high buy-in and sheer difficulty of this event has attracted the cream of the crop, so there probably won't be any "easy" tables all weekend.

Speaking of Table 40 . . .

One of our reporters happened to be in the neighborhood of table 40, and noticed that all of the kings in the deck had been dealt as door cards.

"This hand is going to be so sick," said Robert Williamson III.

A player showing the {2-Spades} completed the bet to 200 and everyone folded to him.

Someone then asked, "you at least had something, right?" To which the winner responded, "nope, just bluffing," as he proceeded to turn over 2-5-10.

Todd Bruson Survives an All-in

Todd moved all-in for his last 625 before the flop, holding {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. He was called by Nikki Frangos who showed pocket deuces.

Brunson hit a flush on the turn, which put him at 1,800 chips. He's still alive, but fighting for his tournament life.
