Do Unscheduled Breaks Matter?

What's an extra 15 or 20 minutes to the players in the event? What's the big deal?

Well several of the players in the Day Two restart of the $1500 NLHE event were planning to play fast and either build a big stack or bustout and go play the 5 PM Stud8/Omaha8 tournament. These players are affected by the unscheduled stoppages in play.

A similiar situation occurred last year when a PLO event was halted when all the the players got up to watch the shoot-out in the Finals of the World Cup. In that case the floor delayed the start of the late tournament to make up for the lost playing time in the early event.

"I called you, buddy!"

A player moved all in for 9300 and Arnold Spee called. The dealer asked both players to open up their hands. The player only flipped over the {Q-Diamonds}. The dealer asked both players again.

"I called you, buddy!" said Spee.

The player showed {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} while Spee flipped over {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. His opponent caught running cards for a straight and doubled through Spee.

Four-Way All In

There was a four-way all in.

Arnold Spee: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Player 1: {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Player 2: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Player 3: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

The flop was {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}. The turn was {5-Diamonds} and the river was the {10-Diamonds}. Two players busted out while Spee was down to 30K.

Young Phan Loses Chips

Young Phan opened up with a 9K raise. His opponent moved all in over the top for 14.9K more. Phan called and said, "Show me A-K."

Phan tabled {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts} while his opponent showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}.

"I'm drawing live here," said Phan.

The flop was {9-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. The turn was {9-Diamonds} and the river was {4-Spades}.

"Nice hand," said Young Phan. "A-K still beats me."

Greg Raymer Eliminated

The Fossilman has left the building. He limped from the small blind with A-A in a three-way pot. The flop was {10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Raymer checked along with the big blind. The player in early position bet the pot. Raymer check-raised all in and the big blind folded. Player from early position called with {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a flopped straight. Raymer's aces were cracked as he headed to the rail.
